Professional Development Programs
The Additional Basic Qualifications (ABQ), Additional Qualifications (AQ) and Honour Specialist (HS) courses are all non-credit courses. The courses offer teachers the opportunity to obtain other pertinent qualifications in education that will appear on their Certificate of Qualification and Registration of the Ontario College of Teachers.
The Faculty of Education offers a number of professional development courses and programs for teachers to further their education.

- Program to teach students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing - offered in French only
- Principal qualification's program (PQP) - offered in French only
A qualification designed for teachers who wish to extend their range of qualifications beyond those of their initial training (Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Divisions) as defined in Schedule A* of the Ontario College of Teachers' (OCT) Schedules and Guidelines.
This program is designed for teachers who wish to obtain a specialization in a program area (Dramatic Arts, English as a Second Language, Special Education, etc.). Usually a three part program as defined in Schedule D* of OCT's Schedules and Guidelines.
This one course additional qualification (as defined in Schedule E* of OCT's Schedules and Guidelines) is designed for teachers who want greater specialization in one subject area, detailed knowledge of curriculum development and implementation, knowledge of process skills related to the role of department head.
