A word from the Chair

Welcome to the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies (SIS)!
Located in Canada’s linguistically and culturally diverse national capital region, the SIS is preparing the next generation of bilingual French and English graduates for leadership roles in libraries, archives and information organizations in Canada and internationally. Our Master of Information Studies program has specializations in information policy and management, and incorporates a variety of academic and professional opportunities, including internships, job shadowing and other project-based opportunities. Students may choose among three options to complete the program: a course-based program, a co-op program, or a thesis option.
Responding to long-standing needs from the local information management professional sectors, the SIS maintains strong ties with these professional communities thereby ensuring a relevant curriculum and successful student learning outcomes.
The SIS is continuing to work closely with the American Library Association; it has met the requirements for pre-candidacy status and continues to progress in the accreditation process. With its bilingual environment and a strong policy and management focus, the SIS offers a unique alternative within the North American setting.
We look forward to meeting you!
