Would you like to improve your French? Does the idea of doing your university studies in French seem intimidating and perhaps even impossible?
The University of Ottawa has the solution for you: French immersion studies.
This innovative program, unique in Canada, is tailored to suit your particular language goals and can be part of over 50 programs of study.
In a few words, immersion is:
- an academic stream that is
suited to your personal language goals;
- the official
French immersion designation on your university diploma;
- the opportunity to take
immersion courses and to obtain the Second Language Certificate;
- benefiting from the personalized language support component of the immersion courses;
- the right to choose up to 8 courses (24 credits) in your first two years of university studies for which you will receive a qualitative grade, either Satisfactory (S) or Non Satisfactory (NS) - these grades do not affect your average!
Improve your English
Do you want to work on your English during your studies? If so, consider taking an
immersion course in English offered by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
This would give you the opportunity to take a pair of courses during the same session: a regular course in a field that interests you, and a weekly 90-minute accompanying language course, for double the credits.
Currently, these courses are available in disciplines belonging to the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences.
