The chemistry department at the University of Ottawa is one of the strongest in Canada.
We offer three and four year Bachelor's degrees with a variety of options including a strong Co-op program. Our students have received Co-op placements in top research institutions, university labs and research intensive companies throughout Canada, the US and Europe.
- Jasmine Viger-Gravel has won second prize in the Physical, Theoretical, and Computational Division graduate poster competition at the 94th CSC held in Montreal in June 2011, for her poster entitled "Solid-State NMR Analysis of Halogen Bonding Involving Thiocyanates and Selenocyanates”.

- An 2009 article by Cory Widdifield and David Bryce has been highlighted in a collection of top 25 cited articles by Canadian research groups in the journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.
- Abdel Sayari and Tom Woo were awarded major grants from Carbon Management Canada. Abdel Sayari was awarded $635,000 over a period of three years, shared with collaborators from Calgary, to study "Material Development and Optimization for Zero CO2 Emission Energy Production". Tom Woo (in collaboration with George Shimizu, uCalgary) has been awarded $940,000 for the project “Designing easy-release CO2 capture at the Molecular Level".
