Master's programs
The objectives of the Department of Geography are to foster awareness of the field of geography, and to add to the body of geographic knowledge and methodology through teaching and research. The Department also endeavors to prepare specialized teachers and researchers to meet the demands of the geographic profession and of various public, private and community agencies.
For graduate studies, the Department offers three fields of research: polar and mountain environments, cities, cultures and social change, and environmental change, risk and adaptation.
The Department of Geography offers the following master’s programs:
- Master of Arts in Geography - MA (with thesis)
- Master in Geography – MGeg (without thesis)
- Master of Science in Geography – MSc (with thesis)
In certain cases, students may be admitted to a masters program on a part-time basis. Part-time students must normally complete course requirements, except the thesis, within a period of not more than 24 months. For more information consult the Department.
The Department has laboratories for GIS, physical geography, paleoclimatology and climatology, remote sensing and geomatics of the environment. Awards and financial support are available to full-time graduate students.
