• Resolved: Mark the attr() function in Values & Units as at-risk.
• Resolved: Make it explicit in CSS2.1 that other unicode linebreaking characters have undefined linebreaking behavior.
• Resolved: Remove the concept of percentage intrinsic widths and heights from CSS2.1.
• Resolved: Update CSS2.1 definition of clip to be physical in nature.
• Resolved: Push 2007 Snapshot to CR.
• Resolved: Don't change the border-image shorthand.
• Resolved: Proceed with publishing CSS3 Backgrounds and Borders as CR.
• Resolved: Publish 2010 Snapshot as FPWD.
• Discussed some editorial issues with the CSS3 Writing Modes draft.

Minutes and Resolutions Telecon 2010-11-10

• Resolved: Keep the current spec text for CSS2.1 Issue 101, revisit if necessary in the future after other browsers have implemented per spec.
• Discussed dropping all mention of percentage intrinsic widths from the spec, since SVG doesn't in fact have them. Pending proposed text and resolution.
• Resolved: Request an extension of the CSS charter until March.
• Resolved: Publish Writing Modes, minus chapter 7 over logical properties, subject to potential objections from jdaggett.
• Discussed having transforms not apply to non-replaced inlines.
• Discussed transforms coordination with SVG through FXTF.

Minutes and Resolutions TPAC F2F 2010 Tuesday Afternoon: Logical layout, Font features, Position-Layout, Inline transforms, Haptics

Logical Layout

Long discussion on logical (start/end/before/after) properties or values. No consensus. Dropped from css3-writing-modes draft.

Font Features

Discussed proposal to create font-specific font feature name maps. Syntax variants were discussed, with the goal of making the syntax reflect better the intended compounding behavior of the declarations.

Position Layout

Tab Atkins presented a proposal to position boxes relative to other boxes. Resolved: add to next charter as low priority.

Inline Transforms

Resolved: When inline elements are broken into multiple boxes due to either bidi or line-breaking, transforms apply to bounding box of the inline. Mark application of transforms to inlines at-risk.

Haptics

Ilkka Oksanen presented a proposal for haptics controls to mimic OS-defined widgets haptic responses. There was some concern about reintroducing the problems with system colors and/or the 'appearance' property.

Minutes and Resolutions TPAC F2F 2010 Tuesday Morning: Grids, Bidi Controls, 'writing-mode' property, tate-chu-yoko

Grids

Microsoft presented another layout proposal that deals with grids. There is a lot of overlap with Template.

CSS3 Writing Modes

• Aharon and fantasai explained the new 'isolate' and 'plaintext' values for 'unicode-bidi', what use cases they solve, and how they interact with HTML5's bidi features.
• fantasai explained the new 'writing-mode' property and its relationship to SVG; why it does not set the 'direction' property, and why the value names were changed
• Resolved: remove the horizontal-bt value of 'writing-mode'
• Briefly reviewed 'text-orientation' property
• Discussed tate-chu-yoko feature requirements.

Minutes and Resolutions TPAC F2F 2010 Monday Afternoon: MultiCol, Flexbox, GCPM

CSS3 Multi-Column Layout

• Resolved: If a columnspanning element doesn't fit within the multicol element without overflowing, then it doesn't span anymore.
• Resolved: column-span applies to "in-flow block-level elements"
• Resolved: column-spanning elements are BFC roots always
• Resolved: Initial value of column-span is 'none' (to distinguish BFC behavior of 1-spanning and not-spanning).
• Resolved: Columns overflowing due to forced breaks and not constrained height overflow to the right, rather than wrapping to a new column row below. Note this causes dataloss when printing.

Flexbox

• Resolved: Change prefix from box- to flex-
• Resolved: Combine box-orient and box-direction into flex-direction
• Resolved: Split box-flex into flex-grow and flex-shrink
• Resolved: 'auto' margins flex as 1
• Resolved: Drop box-flex-group
• Resolved: Mark multiline at-risk.
• Resolved: Rename box-ordinal-group to either flex-order or flex-index (mark exact name as issue)
• Resolved: Mark entire transverse alignment as an issue until further notice.

GCPM

• Discussed problem of specially styling pages that are the first or last page of a named page set, or that belong to the spread containing that first or last page.
• Discussed problem of tweaking page size to handle widows or orphans.
• Discussed hyphenate-last-line-avoid property proposal.

Minutes and Resolutions TPAC F2F 2010 Monday Morning: Transforms, EPUB, CSS2.1 test suite, Bidi Images and Lists

2D Transforms

Discussed next steps and blocking issues for CSS 2D Transform.

• Resolved: Discuss an API to parse the specified value into an author-convenient form, before pushing CSS 2D Transforms spec forward.
• Resolved: Any Transforms tests that can be reftests must be reftests.
• Resolved: Remove the value API from 2d Transforms.

EPUB Liaison

Markus Gylling, AC rep of DAISY consortium, visited to talk about EPUB and the IDPF and coordination with the CSSWG. Discussion topics included:

• IDPF process, and comparison/contrast to W3C process
• EPUB goals and status of relevant CSS drafts
• CSS3 Speech: EPUB plans to send an editor to move it forward.

CSS2.1 Testing

• RC3 published last week as a snapshot: planning RC4 as a "known bugs fixed" release.
• Resolved: Target Nov 22nd for CSS2.1 test suite RC4 freeze.
• Resolved: Target Dec 8th for RC4 implementation report submissions; telecon dedicated to reviewing test changes and completing IR.

Bidi Images and Lists

Aharon Lanin introduced his proposals to solve two problems:

• Ability to automatically flip images for RTL. (This will be considered for CSS3 Images.)
• Ability to assign list item marker position to match list directionality rather than item directionality.

Minutes and Resolutions 2010-10-27

• New snapshot build of CSS 2.1 test suite published; not all bugs fixed yet.
• Deferring CSS2.1 Issue 101 to see if change is actually needed for web compat; IE9 implements per spec.
• Resolved: CSS2.1 Issue 154 (images to clarify inline measurements) closed wontfix; prose edits have improved the text enough already.
• Resolved: Proposal accepted for CSS2.1 Issue 159 (margin collapsing rewrite) with Bert's "no padding or margin areas" change and "drop 'vertical'" suggested changes; fantasai to write example clarifying adjoining behavior of collapsed margins.
• Resolved: Publish CSS3 Backgrounds and Borders as CR. Disposition of Comments.
• Reviewed Bert's follow-up comments on edits to CSS2.1 Issues 120 and 142.
