Research and Trust Information System
This page is a brief introduction to the Research and Trust Information System (RTIS), as well as the instructions on how to access the system. It would be in your best interest to print these instructions before entering the system, for future reference.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ACCESS THE RTIS SYSTEM
In order to access the system, click on the appropriate “Access RTIS” hyperlink at the bottom of this page (for either University of Ottawa Employees or External Users). This step will direct you to a screen called “InfoWeb”.
For University of Ottawa Employees
From this screen, you will have to enter your Identifier (in this case, your employee number) and follow the instructions on screen for your password. If this is your first time entering the system, click on the hyperlink "Click here for initial password”. Follow the instructions on the screen. The system will assign a password to you. If you have forgotten your password, click on this same link and follow the instructions.
For External Users
From this screen, you will have to enter your Identifier type (in this case, External), enter your Identifier and Password (both of these were sent to you by email). If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Click here for initial password" link and follow the instructions.
Should you encounter any difficulties with the generation of your password, please contact the Client Services Help Line at extension 6555.
It is important to note that the system's security modules have been built in such a way to give you access to the data relevant to your daily duties. If you detect an error in your data access, please inform Daniel Lefebvre at dxlga@uottawa.ca.
Once the steps regarding the generation of your password have been completed (if such is the case), you will be able to access the RTIS system by entering your Identifier and your password. Once the Identifier and password have been entered in their respective fields, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen.
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS ON NAVIGATING THROUGH THE RTIS SYSTEM (RESEARCH AND NON-RESEARCH)
The RTIS system has been developed and constructed in accordance with operating functions common to the different Internet navigation software. Therefore, the “Back”, “Forward” and “Reload” commands of your browser are used throughout navigation.

Once you have entered the system, you are taken to a screen displaying the following options:
- Employee Services
- Research and Trust Information System
- Student record related functions
- Logout
Employee Services
- Change password (This screen will allow you to change your password after the generation of the initial password by the system)
- List of computer accounts (This screen will provide you with a detailed list of YOUR computer accounts)
- Change of Address Notification (This screen will allow you to make an address change. For more information, please contact Human Resources)
Research and Trust Information System
According to your security profile, you can have access to either of these categories, or in certain cases, access to both of them.
In order to request access to RTIS - Research, please contacter Daniel Lefebvre by telephone at extension 1240 or at the address dxlga@uottawa.ca.
To access the Research Information System, simply click on the option "Research" of the "Research and Trust Information System" menu.

Once you have entered the system, you are taken to a screen displaying the following options:
External Services
- Change password (This screen will allow you to change your password after the generation of the initial password by the system)
- RTIS (This option will take you directly to the RTIS system)

To access the Research Information System, simply click on the option "RTIS" of the "External Services" menu.

Two search modes are possible when doing a search: “Quick Search” and “Advanced Search”.
THE QUICK SEARCH
The Quick Search is used when you know the Re Number (unique number of each grant application form) or the cost centre number of the file you wish to view.
Please note that you only have to enter either of the two possible selection criteria. By pressing on the "Research” button at the bottom of the page, a single file will be displayed by the system.
THE ADVANCED SEARCH
The Advanced Search is used when you wish to view more than one file corresponding to certain search criteria or when the RE Number and Cost Centre number for a specific file is unknown.
The search can be done with any combination of the criteria below, by clicking on the button of the respective drop down menu:

Note that more than one search criteria may be entered in order to define the search. By pressing on the "Search" button at the bottom of the page, all files corresponding to the search criteria entered will be displayed by the system in the form of a list. From the list provided, click on the appropriate RE Number to view the file.
Invoicing Instructions
If the file selected contains instructions for invoicing, "Invoicing Instructions" will appear in the form of a hyperlink that you will be able to click on to view its contents.
Budget requirements
If the file selected contains a budget breakdown for any particular fiscal year, the start date of the validity period of the corresponding fiscal year will appear in the form of a hyperlink that you will be able to click on to view its contents.
Once the viewing is completed, simply click on the “Logout” button at the bottom of the page.
