Getting The Netscape Navigator Software
The main pages of the University's Campus-Wide Information System (CWIS), called UOINFO, are all designed to be displayed best using the Netscape Navigator client software, version 4.0 (or higher).Netscape Navigator runs on a windows-based environment, such as X-Windows, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh. To obtain a copy of this software, check the Netscape site.
Learning HTML
The World-Wide Web (WWW) consists of documents that are linked to each other, creating some sort of web (hence the name). Each document is composed using the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). If you wish to set up your own Web pages, there are many resources on the Internet that help you learn this language, such as:
Other Internet Resources
- The W3 Consortium
- Search Engines (CSI)
- World Universities (www.123world.com)
- Virtual Tourist World Map (Virtual Tourist)
- Ministry of Education and Training of Ontario
- Grenoble Graduate School of Business
Web Search Engines
A better way to find documents on the Web, would be to use the Internet Search Engines. There are many, obviously, but the most popular are the following:
- Yahoo!
- AltaVista
- Canada411
- Dogpile
- Excite
- Yahoo! People Search
- HotBot
- Go.com (formerly InfoSeek)
- Internet Address Finder
- Lycos
- Magellan
- Mamma
- Postal Code Lookup
- WebCrawler
- Aeiwi: The Future Of Web Indexing
- OttawaStart.com
