CryptoCard Tokens
What is a "CryptoCard token"?
The tokens are intended for use by those who manage servers that are located in the University's Trusted Zone. The server managers should fall into one of the following categories:
- Professors
- Support Staff
- Sponsored affiliates or consultants
How are these accounts created?
- The account request must be approved by a formal "requestor," that is, the dean or director or this person's delegate (administrative officer).
- The written request must include the following information about the person responsible for the account, that is, the user or, if the account has many users, the supervisor:
- Employee
- Name
- Employee number
- Sponsored User
- Sponsored user's name
- Sponsored user's DoB DD/MM/Y (last digit of the year)
- Sponsored user's photo ID number
- Sponsor's name
- Sponsor's employee number
- Employee
- The request must also include the shorter of these two account expiry dates:
- The user's length of appointment (if sponsored)
- One calendar year
- For sponsored users, a contract must be signed by the sponsored user, the sponsor and CCS.
- All requests must then be submitted using our on-line Web request form at http://www.ccs.uottawa.ca/cybersos/
How is the account creation confirmed?
The following notice is sent to the person responsible for the account, along with a copy for the "requestor":
The creation of the following account: "userid" has been approved (password "____________" ). Responsibility for the proper use of this account belongs to "token user's name," who must comply with the User Code of Conduct for Computing Resources at http://www.uottawa.ca/help/about/code.html . For security reasons, the CryptoCard token must be collected by the requestor or the user in person from Vanier Hall room 539. The token expires on "date" as specified by the requestor, that is, the person having authorized the token activation. Token activation may be cancelled by either the requestor or the user. N.B. A fee of $70 will be charged to the requestor if the token is not returned to Vanier room 539 upon termination of the account. |
