Our design is protected by copyright and will remain unchanged. The ring is reserved exclusively for individuals who have successfully met the University’s standards. Only alumni and graduating students are eligible to wear the ring.

The ring will be custom-made to order in your choice of 10, 14-karat yellow or white gold and Lustrium, and in small, medium or large band widths. As a special feature, each ring will be marked with its own registration number, which will allow identification of the owner in the event the ring is returned to the University.

If you are not entirely satisfied with your ring, you may return it within 30 days for a full refund or exchange.

We invite you to join with others who proudly wear the ring as a symbol and a reminder of their achievement at the University of Ottawa and the traditions of their alma mater.

A world of meaning captured in your ring...

The official ring of the University of Ottawa proudly represents the permanent bond between the University and its alumni, students and graduates. Its simple, elegant blend of symbols conveys the essence and spirit of Canada’s University since its founding in 1848.

Engraved in the ring are the University of Ottawa initials, a mark of pride, recognition and belonging. The letters “U” and “O” are separated, as is each symbol on the ring, by a Greco-Roman column representing Tabaret Hall, the University’s signature building, a symbol of scholarship and reverence for the history and tradition of our institution.

The ring also bears the logo of the Ottawa Alumni Association, reflecting graduates’ devotion and continuing contribution to their alma mater.

Two horses represent the dignity, wisdom and spirit of the University, as well as its tradition of excellence in athletics. The side-by-side fleur-de-lys and trillium reflect the University’s roots in the Province of Ontario and its link to the Francophone community.

The maple leaf reminds us that the University sits at the very heart of Canada’s capital. The two narrow bands at each edge of the ring allude to the Rideau Canal bordering the campus, and represent the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers.

Times will change, seasons will pass, and generations of students will make their distinctive mark on our campus. Yet, the official ring of the University of Ottawa and its timeless design will stand as a tribute to years well spent at an institution distinctive in its own right.
