About the Data Visualisation team:

The Data Visualisation team at Policy Expert is responsible for bringing data to life through powerful, intuitive visualisation and reporting tools. The team owns, maintains, evolves and promotes the usage of our BI tooling (Looker), drives our strategic visualisation roadmap, and ensures that insights are accessible, actionable, and easily interpretable across the business. They empower business users with self-service capabilities, enabling independent exploration and confident, data-driven decision-making. They collaborate closely with other Group Data disciplines, Product management and business stakeholders to maximise the value of our data, continually adapting to industry trends and emerging technologies such as semantic layers, headless BI, and AI-powered insights.

Your day to day:

As the Head of Data Visualisation at Policy Expert, you will:

• Establish, scale, and lead the Data Visualisation team, ensuring high-quality delivery of visualisation and reporting solutions.
• Define and implement the strategic vision and roadmap for data visualisation, aligning closely with business priorities and emerging industry trends.
• Design, curate, and oversee the implementation of the strategic reporting estate, ensuring reports and dashboards deliver clear, actionable insights across all areas of the business.
• Maintain and evolve our primary BI tooling (Looker), ensuring reliable, scalable, and intuitive access for all business stakeholders.
• Foster a self-service culture by empowering business users with easy-to-use tools and dashboards that facilitate independent data exploration and analysis.
• Drive adoption of best practices in visualisation design, emphasising aesthetics, user experience, and clarity.
• Empower other Group Data disciplines to express their outputs visually and integrate insights seamlessly across data products.
• Act as a central point of expertise on modern BI platforms, staying ahead of industry developments including AI-enhanced insights, semantic layers, and headless BI solutions.
• Regularly engage with business stakeholders to understand evolving needs, ensuring visualisation outputs remain relevant, insightful, and actionable.
  
  

Who are you:

• A senior Data Visualisation leader with a strong background in establishing and growing high-performing visualisation, BI and/or reporting functions.
• Experienced in defining and executing comprehensive visualisation strategies and roadmaps in alignment with strategic business goals.
• An expert user and administrator of modern cloud-based BI platforms, particularly Looker, with an understanding of emerging trends like headless BI, semantic layers, and AI-powered analytics.
• Proven ability to create and maintain intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and highly functional visualisations that drive effective decision-making.
• Proficient with SQL and working with cloud data warehouses.
• Skilled at empowering non-technical users through self-service BI, enabling confident, independent data exploration.
• An exceptional communicator who thrives on collaboration, able to translate complex technical insights into clear business language.
• Passionate about delivering actionable insights, driving a data-driven culture, and continuously improving user engagement with data.
• Adept at staying informed of industry advancements and strategically applying new technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
• An advocate for excellent user experience, with a keen eye for detail and design, ensuring that data visualisation is both impactful and easy to interact with.
