About us
Women are hugely under-represented in the Data industry – as things stand, male Analysts and Data Scientists outnumber their female colleagues 4 to 1. Addressing this imbalance isn’t just the right thing to do ethically. Data shows that everything from workplace satisfaction, to business profitability significantly improve when an organisation strives for greater diversity and inclusivity. Women in Data® plays a key role in driving for more accurate representation wherever data is being gathered and analysed. We provide the platform that allows professionals at all levels to share their knowledge and experience, while working alongside businesses to help them embrace and develop the enormous advantages generated by diversity. The changes we’re affecting are cultural and systemic. Offering everything from professional networking and knowledge transfer, to our Women’s Health Commission, Women’s Safety Commission, MenopauseX and Girls in Data initiative. Our work is creating measurable impact for the partners we support and the community we host.

"Standing among 3,500 career-driven, diverse women, I couldn't help but feel the collective energy that happens when brilliant minds converge." Thanks for adding to that energy to the room, Shankary Ravichelvam! ❤️ #WomenInDataFlagship2025

✨ Women in Data® 2025: Insights, Inspiration, and a 3D Chocolate Head 🍫 Empowered. That's how I felt after an insightful, amazing day at the Women in Data Flagship event yesterday. Standing among 3,500 career-driven, diverse women, I couldn't help but feel the collective energy that happens when brilliant minds converge. 🌟 The day was packed with thought-provoking sessions: 🔐 Marsha Quallo-Wright from GCHQ reminded us to take risks and learn from failures - because you never know which doors will open next. 🤖 The deepfakes panel revealed that in the UK, we don't legally own our own image! As physical and digital selves merge, education and transparency around AI risks becomes increasingly critical. 📊 The "AI for Equity" session highlighted a sobering statistic: women in data and AI in the UK earn 9.1% less than men, emphasising the importance of documenting accomplishments for professional development. 📚 Caroline Criado Perez "Invisible Women" talk exposed data bias - women are 73% more likely to be seriously injured in car crashes because safety features are designed for male bodies. Her challenge to use AI to fill critical data gaps resonated deeply. 🏉 Rugby legend Maggie Alphonsi MBE was truly inspiring! She engaged the audience with wisdom on Self-Awareness and Self-Acceptance, encouraging us to embrace what makes us unique and recognise how "first followers" transform "lone nuts" into leaders. Between sessions, I saw demos of emerging technologies and experienced the (decidedly sassy) judgement of Google's Gemini AI during a LEGO building competition. I frantically attempted to build a taxi cab as per Gemini's request within the 100-second limit while Google Pixel phones captured my efforts. Fascinating to witness AI emanate such human-like judgement while critiquing my architectural choices! 🧱 Throughout the day, I reconnected with colleagues, made new connections, and left with fresh inspiration. Who knew I'd also leave with a 3D printed chocolate head of myself thanks to Google Cloud - ending the day on a sweet note! 🍫 Janasobini Vetharuban Aneesha D'Souza Ellie Grant Anca- Teodora Danila Ahartisha Selakanabarajah #WomenInData #DataScience #AIEthics #WomenInTech #DataLeadership #TechDiversity #AIInnovation #ProfessionalGrowth #DEI #DataBias #GoogleCloud
