A productive Wednesday with a site meeting and inspections at #Colebrook, working in partnership with Westward Housing Group and Classic Builders The majority of these homes will have an EPC rating to a standard of A across the site, all homes will be of sustainable timber frame construction with solar photovoltaic panels, high insulation standards and gas combination central heating and hot water systems. We look forward to seeing completion of these homes later this year.  #TLTeam #employersagent #principaldesigner #clerkofworks

🌿🏡 We’re thrilled to receive a £1.5 million grant to improve the energy efficiency of 113 homes in Torridge! The decarbonisation funding comes through Torridge District Council. The funds will support a number of projects in the Community Regeneration Partnership Scheme to benefit local residents. We will use the grant for decarbonisation and energy performance (EPC) improvements. This funding will make all the difference for these homes which have E or F ratings that can now be upgraded to a C or above. Measures may include insulation, higher specification windows and doors, heating systems and other changes to make homes warmer and more affordable to heat. 21 people who work for Westward Housing Group came from across Devon and Cornwall to Newton Abbot for their trauma informed training day with the Network. As always, the day was a reminder of the need for the embedding of trauma informed approaches and a humbling space hearing the stories of staff who care so much about the often challenging roles they have. Westward works in partnership with local colleges offering people the opportunity of an apprenticeship which holds long term employment prospects. Westward has previously offered apprenticeships in Business Administration throughout several departments including Human Resources, Finance and Asset Management commencing at level 2 with some apprentices even progressing to level 3. Last week we were invited to attend Exeter University’s student employment week and we managed to talk to many of the students about Housing and what we do at Westward. We showed them how they can make a career in housing and what they could expect their working life to look like at Westward. Many had never thought about Housing as a career so it was really good to speak directly to our next generation of candidates.
