"Paths have always been impacted by weather. But does climate change mean those impacts are becoming more severe, frequent or long-lasting – and perhaps more costly and inconvenient?" The evidence is indisputable: our weather is becoming milder, our winters wetter and our sea levels higher. But what does this mean for walkers and for the volunteers who maintain our routes? 🥾🌍🛠️ #ClimateCrisis This #WorldMeteorologicalDay we delve into the impact our changing climate is having on Britain's paths, countryside, and coastlines with Ben Dolphin - ranger, environmentalist and ex-president of Ramblers Scotland. A huge shout out to our volunteer Peter, who’s surveyed a massive 48km of paths as part of the Pathways Partnership Carmarthenshire project. Da iawn i’n gwirfoddolwr Peter, sydd wedi arolygu 48km o lwybrau fel rhan o’n prosiect Partneriaeth Llwybrau Sir Gâr. He says “The project has taken me into pleasant woodland, across fields and onto hilltops with fantastic views. I’ve been through solar panel farms, along coast paths, urban paths and also, on occasion, along badly overgrown or even impassable paths! "As a walk leader for the local Ramblers group, I’m finding paths that I have never been on before and can sometimes put them together into a new walk for the group. "The work that all the volunteers are doing on this project is providing valuable information on the minor path network for the Carmarthenshire PROW team, enabling them to prioritise their work and projects so that we can all benefit from getting into the countryside more easily.”

The River Wye is the second longest river in Wales but considered to be the most beautiful. It has been attracting tourists since the 18th century and the English poet, William Wordsworth, described it “of aspect more sublime”. The Wye Valley is a great base for FITs and groups. These itinerary ideas include Chepstow, Tintern and Monmouth. Clients can visit museums, gardens, castles, drink producers, an abbey, and seek adventure on the river. 👉https://ow.ly/Nr4650UImfS #TravelTradeWales #TravelTrade #Wales #VisitWales #Croeso #CroesoCymru #FeelTheHwyl #Hwyl #RiverWye #WyeValley #ItineraryIdeas #GroupTravel
