While the traditional 1:1 partnership remains strong, there's a noticeable shift toward multi-executive support models. This change impacts everything from the type of support required to the recruitment process itself. The autism employment gap is real… Did you know that only 22% of autistic adults are employed in the UK, compared to 80% of non-disabled adults? That’s a staggering gap - and it’s not due to a lack of talent or potential. Unfair hiring practices, unclear recruitment processes, and negative experiences during interviews and testing contribute to this disparity. Many autistic women, in particular, choose not to disclose their diagnosis in the workplace, fearing misunderstanding, stigma, or being overlooked for opportunities. But here’s the thing: autistic Executive Assistants bring exceptional strengths to their roles, including: - Outstanding attention to detail - High levels of reliability - Resilience with repetitive tasks - A strong drive for personal and professional development Unfortunately, these qualities are often overshadowed by outdated attitudes and a lack of awareness from employers.
