General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace have agreed to collaborate on the development and production of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for the global defense market. The joint effort follows the successful completion of a major flight demonstration in 2024 when the two companies launched a General Atomics Aeronautical Systems MQ-1C Gray Eagle® STOL (GE STOL) UAS from the South Korean Navy’s amphibious landing ship ROKS Dokdo (LPH-6111) as it was underway at sea off the coast of Pohang, South Korea. ▸ Visit the Unmanned Systems Technology website for further information. WarrenUAS, one of the top drone training and research programs in the United States, has added to its deep ties in the UAS industry through a new collaborative agreement with The Tactien Group LLC, a leading aviation strategic advisory firm guiding clients worldwide. The five-year-old WarrenUAS program is considered by many industry leaders as the best UAS educational institution in the U.S.. Located in two new facilities, students have access to more than 100 UAS systems worth over $5million and the latest technology for programming and maintaining the equipment. Tactien provides unbiased strategies for integrating airborne technology for infrastructure, working with utility operators to develop a full-system solution. “This partnership is the next logical step for our college’s program. Textron Systems is set to support software development updates and payload integration for the U.S. Navy’s Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) under a contract awarded by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The company will be responsible for payload integration, testing, and demonstrations involving future MCM mission packages, including the Magnetic and Acoustic Generation Next Unmanned Superconducting Sweep (MAGNUSS) and Mine Neutralization payloads.
