UK Music has launched its 2025 Creators' Survey - and we need your help! As the collective voice of the UK music industry, we're gathering vital data on creators' earnings to calculate our sector's economic contribution. This year, we've included questions about AI to better understand its impact on creators' work and income. Are you a professional music creator? This includes artists, musicians, composers, songwriters, lyricists, singers, producers or engineers - full-time or part-time. Your responses will directly inform our This Is Music report and strengthen our advocacy with Government. Complete the 10-minute survey: https://lnkd.in/eFTTBbav?

UK Music fully supports AI innovation AND protecting creators' rights - these goals aren't mutually exclusive. As the Government pushes forward with controversial changes to copyright law, our Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has issued a stark warning about striking the right balance for the UK's world-leading creative industries. The proposed "opt-out" system for AI training would: Allow tech companies to use creators' work without permission or payment Force creators to navigate complex opt-out processes with each AI company Strip the music sector of its most valuable assets "These proposals would be catastrophic for our world-leading creative industries," says Tom. "The opt-out system being put forward prioritises AI firms over human creativity, enabling big tech firms to effectively steal the work of music creators without their consent and without paying them." With our music industry contributing £7.6 billion to the economy and supporting 216,000 jobs, these changes threaten not just current creators but the next generation of UK talent.

Good luck to the PPL runners! An incredible effort for an amazing cause.
UPDATE: Congratulations to our runners for completing the Berlin Half Marathon 🏆 ⭐ +++++++ This Sunday, our PPL runners will be taking on the Berlin Half Marathon to raise vital funds for the Cancer Awareness Trust. They will be running in honour of two inspiring members of PPL, Natalie Wade and Titania Altius, who are currently on their own cancer journeys, with Natalie having just become cancer free after a really tough 2024, although with preventative treatment still ongoing for a number of months. Thanks to your generosity and support, we have so far raised an incredible £22,800, just short of our £25,000 target. Our runners are training hard, and your generosity will help them go the full distance. There is still time if you would like to donate. Please follow the link below and share with your networks. Thank you for all your support. https://lnkd.in/eQcejFZe

UK Music recently completed an inspiring schools tour across the East Midlands, bringing live music and industry insights directly to young people. Our Partnerships & Operations Officer Courtney Wallace joined forces with rapper, manga author and music entrepreneur Shao Dow for this Arts Council England funded project, visiting 12 schools across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, and Northamptonshire/Rutlands between March 3-27. The impact was powerful, as one parent shared: "My daughter is a year 10 music student here, and she absolutely loved meeting you today and seeing you perform. She has been a little wobbly recently over her music GCSE and lost her passion a little since her last performance in December, but since coming home from school she's been singing again and seems to have gotten her spark back." We're grateful to our partners at Music Education Hubs East Midlands (MEHEM) for helping make this tour possible and showing the tremendous impact that music education initiatives can have on young people. https://lnkd.in/erF6bFZ8
