About us
We are an independent charitable organisation working to build a healthier UK. Health is our most precious asset. Good health enables us to live happy, fulfilling lives, fuels our prosperity and helps build a stronger society. Yet good health remains out of reach for too many people in the UK and services are struggling to provide access to timely, high-quality care. It doesn’t have to be like this. Our mission is to help build a healthier UK by: 1. improving people’s health and reducing inequalities 2. supporting radical innovation and improvement in health and care services 3. providing evidence and analysis to improve health and care policy. We’ll achieve this by producing research and analysis, shaping policy and practice, building skills, knowledge and capacity, and acting as a catalyst for change. Everyone has a stake and a part to play in improving our health. By working together, we can build a healthier UK.

New analysis of the latest health care funding figures for England. Updated following the 2025 Spring Statement, #REALCentre analysis shows that NHS England’s budget is projected to increase, in real terms, by 2.6% per year from 2023/24 to 2025/26. Adjusted for the changing size and age profile of the population, this is a growth rate of 1.0% per person per year. Read more ⬇️ https://bit.ly/3G7G8bU

NEW BLOG: Last September, Wes Streeting said that the government would deploy ‘crack teams of top clinicians’ to hospitals in England to roll out reforms aimed at treating more patients and reducing elective waiting lists. The scheme gave support to 20 hospitals to tackle waiting lists, extending an existing programme, ‘Further Faster’, set up under the previous government. The 20 hospitals targeted became referred to as ‘Further Faster 20’ or ‘FF20’ trusts. On 16 March, the government announced that waiting lists in FF20 trusts had, on average, fallen 130% faster than the fall elsewhere and that similar ‘crack teams’ would be rolled out to additional providers to boost NHS productivity and further cut waiting times. In this new blog, Sarah Opie-Martin and Charles Tallack use publicly available data to look at this claim in more detail and examine what is driving differences between reductions in waiting lists in these 20 hospitals and elsewhere. The Health Foundation reposted this
🚀 Our latest blog explores our current work with the The Health Foundation to develop a ground-breaking framework and database that will provide a clearer picture of supply and demand across health and care services in England. Since the pandemic, NHS and social care services have faced significant challenges, including staff shortages, increased demand and backlogs. However, gaining a full understanding of the situation has been difficult, as key data about NHS performance and operations remains siloed across multiple platforms. This project will consolidate over 100 different data sources to assess whether care provision meets demand and identify widening gaps. In the blog we lay out why we believe this will be a significant step forward for policymakers, NHS decisions makers and researchers, giving unprecedented insights into demand, supply and resource allocation, ultimately driving better patient outcomes. 📖 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eZZgNW5h Reach out to the blogs authors for further information: Robert K. PODCAST: How is progress on the government’s health mission? It’s 2 years since Keir Starmer first set out his five missions for government, including a health mission to build ‘an NHS fit for the future’ and ‘a fairer Britain, where everyone lives well for longer’. So, what have we learned so far? And are clues emerging about how government plans to improve the nation’s health beyond the confines of the NHS? We assess progress on the health mission so far with Jo Bibby, Dr Hannah White OBE and Jennifer Dixon. Listen now 🎧
