AIMA congratulates the new Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, on his confirmation. AIMA stands ready to support the SEC’s mission under President Trump’s mandate to reduce regulatory burdens and encourage financial innovation.    AIMA will shortly send a letter to the SEC outlining a series of targeted recommendations aimed at fostering efficient, well-functioning capital markets while promoting responsible innovation.    The recommendations are structured around three core themes:       1. Supporting innovation and capital formation 2. Promoting sound practices and financial stability 3. Reducing regulatory burdens through harmonisation and structural reform.    These priorities are the product of a collaborative effort with AIMA’s US Regulatory Committee, reflecting broad input from its global membership of fund managers and institutional investors.       Commenting on SEC chair Atkins’ confirmation, AIMA CEO Jack Inglis said: “The confirmation of Paul Atkins to serve as SEC Chair, for whom we have a very high regard, presents a timely and important opportunity for renewed constructive engagement between the SEC and the alternative investment industry. The Government’s proposals to reform the rules for alternative investment managers can boost the UK’s international competitiveness while maintaining consumer protection and promoting clean and healthy markets, says AIMA.   HM Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority have published the way forward for the rules governing the UK’s £14 trillion-plus asset management industry – the second largest in the world.
