For five years, Syd endured conversion practices, made to undergo exorcisms and told she needed to be "cured" just for being herself. Syd was only 17 when this started. A new survey from The Trevor Project revealed that nearly 1 in 6 (16%) LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-24 reported being threatened with or subjected to conversion therapy. No one should have to go through what Syd did. Yet, conversion practices are still happening across Great Britain. Syd should have been protected from this abuse. We're campaigning to #BanConversionPractices and calling on the Government to publish draft legislation with no loopholes. Read Syd's story ▶️ https://bit.ly/4cw1njU
About us
We imagine a world where all lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people are free to be themselves. Stonewall was founded in 1989 by a small group of people who wanted to break down barriers to equality. Stonewall continues to campaign and lobby government to change laws to ensure everyone, everywhere, is free to be themselves. Stonewall works in partnership with a growing network of more than 700 organisations to help create real change for the better. It campaigns to eliminate homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in communities, and empowers LGBT people and their allies to be role models wherever they live, work, shop, socialise or pray. The Trevor Project have released new survey findings about the mental health of young #LGBTQ+ people. 🚨 They found that nearly 1 in 6 (16%) LGBTQ+ young people between 13 and 24 years old reported being threatened with or subjected to conversion therapy, which was associated with higher rates of mental health concerns. The impact of conversion practices can't be understated, it can cause serious mental health issues for people subjected to it. This why we urgently need the UK Government to #BanConversionPractices and protect LGBTQ+ people from this harm. Find out more about our campaign 👉 https://bit.ly/42P7Pjd

Today is #WorldHealthDay - so we're bringing you an update on our #IVFforAll campaign! The Department of Health and Social Care has recently confirmed they’re working to make fertility services more accessible for female same sex couples, after we pushed for clarity last week following the recent announcements about changes to the NHS. We are campaigning to remove the financial barriers to accessing IVF, because LGBTQ+ people deserve the same help to be parents as anybody else. We welcome this commitment and look forward to seeing real change. Ashley Dalton MP Find out more about our campaign 👉https://bit.ly/3YdrRR6

💜 This #InternationalAsexualityDay, we're sharing Elizabeth's story as part of our campaign to #BanConversionPractices. Elizabeth is asexual and was subjected to conversion practices, something no one should have to go through. Elizabeth's story, and so many others, send a clear message to the Government: it's time to publish the draft Bill and protect all LGBTQ+ people from this abuse, including those with ace identities. Find out how you can support the campaign ▶️ https://bit.ly/42P7Pjd

🚨 When Matthew came out at his church, he was subjected to conversion practices. The experience still affects him today. No one should be told they need to be 'fixed' - LGBTQ+ identities should be accepted and celebrated. As the current UK Government prepares draft legislation, we're calling for a comprehensive, fully inclusive bill that bans conversion practices for all LGBTQ+ people.
