📢 In 2020, an SQW-led consortium (including PHG Foundation, Impact Data Metrics Ltd, IFF Research and ADL) was commissioned by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to evaluate the Data to Early Diagnosis and Precision Medicine (D2EDPM) Challenge. The £210m programme aimed to accelerate the development of data driven healthcare technologies, develop centres of excellence and clusters of digital health and precision medicine focused companies, and increase efficiencies in the NHS. The evaluation involved four phases of work between 2020 and 2023: a monitoring and evaluation framework; a baseline assessment of the Challenge; a process evaluation and a final impact evaluation. We are pleased to share that the final impact evaluation has now been published. Visit our website to find out more and read the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/er7yfH8R

✍ President's Trump's tariffs are generating headlines and raising concerns about a global trade war. Whilst the international impacts are real and significant, it is also important to consider where in the UK the effects of these tariffs may be most immediately felt. Our analysis reveals that the value of goods exports to the US varies substantially at a local level. If businesses respond by cutting production or even ceasing operations in response to the new tariffs, some areas may especially vulnerable to the immediate effects. 📢 How can voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations build their capacity, resilience and sustainability? Developing Healthy Communities (DHC) Ltd is a Derry based charity with a mission to promote health and tackle health inequalities. They received a £95,597 award through the Dormant Assets NI programme to fund a full-time Operations Manager. DHC’s experience of the Dormant Assets funding has resulted in four key areas of learning, which may be transferrable to other VCSE organisations. 📢 SQW’s second interim evaluation report of The National Lottery Community Fund’s Dormant Assets NI Phase 1 grant programme, which sought to support voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Northern Ireland, provides evidence on the emerging impacts and outcomes of the grant fund, and provides learnings for VCSEs. The Crescent (Crescent Arts Centre) – an arts and cultural centre located in South Belfast – is one of the VCSE organisations featured in the report. The organisation secured £30,950 from Dormant Assets NI to fund the development of a small retail display in the foyer of the building in order to diversify its income streams. The retail shop has already begun generating an income for The Crescent and is helping increase the visibility of the arts centre. 📢 As part of SQW’s second interim evaluation report of the Dormant Assets NI Phase 1 Grant Programme, which was commissioned by The National Lottery Community Fund, a series of case studies on grant holders have been created to explore the impact and outcomes of the support. For example, Bolster Community is a charity and social enterprise based in #Newry and #Kilkeel, which secured £100,000 funding from the programme to diversify their income streams and strengthen their expertise in business development and marketing. In the case study, staff at Bolster Community reveal how the opportunity to focus on sustainability and longer-term growth as a result of the Dormant Assets funding has had a transformational impact on their organisation. Indeed, generated income now accounts for over half of the organisation’s overall income, while previously this had been around 30%. 📢 Voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) are under increasing pressure, not least due to the unpredictability and short term nature of the funding environment, recruitment issues and demand pressures. Our second interim evaluation report for The National Lottery Community Fund explores the emerging impacts and outcomes of the Dormant Assets NI Phase 1 Grant Programme. The programme aimed to build the capacity, resilience and sustainability of the VCSE sector in Northern Ireland. So, what can we learn about what works?
