Big news — and a little moment to celebrate… Back in late February, our founder, Juanita Rosenior, joined the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival (WCFF) as Operations and Communications Director. Today, we officially launch. In just a few short weeks, we’ve developed a fresh thematic identity, built a brand new website, and laid the foundation for this year’s communications and logistical delivery. WCFF is a space where Caribbean stories, creativity, and legacy are centred and celebrated. A space that honours the Windrush Generation while creating room for the next wave of storytellers, filmmakers, and changemakers. It’s an honour to be shaping this next chapter. The 2025 festival runs from 14–29 June, across selected UK locations and globally online. Juanita says “The Windrush Caribbean Film Festival is a celebration of Caribbean stories, creativity, and resilience. I’m proud to be part of a team that is working to honour the Windrush legacy while making space for the next generation of storytellers. I can’t wait to see where we take it.” Follow @windrush_fest for updates and get ready for something really special. #WCFF2025 #WindrushCaribbeanFilmFestival #Windrush80 #CaribbeanCinema #BlackBritishCulture #CulturalHeritage #Storytelling #FilmFestival #NewRole #MilestoneMoment

  • Soul Purpose 360 extends a heart-warming thank you to Zela Gayle for her beautiful dance performance #DefinitionRedefined for our recent conference. Back in November, we ran a social media campaign featuring a series of adjectives selected to highlight the skills, behaviours, mindsets and actions that Black women employ daily, to life. We had a really great response from Black women, and one of our members asked to use the words to create a contemporary dance movement to open our recent, hugely successful International Women's Day conference. Let us know what you think....Enjoy. Today has been #SingleParentsDay "Despite 1 in 4 families being led by a single parent, single parent families are often overlooked or misunderstood. Single Parents Day on March 21 is a chance to celebrate the love, resilience, and strength of single parents while challenging the unfair stigma they face." I have been a single parent since my partner at the time, changed his mind about having a baby after a year of badgering me to fall pregnant; I was four months pregnant at the time. So since 1996 I have gone it alone. 10 years later I found myself doing it again. Two kids, two dads a decade apart, yet I have never felt any way about being a lone parent - a brimming sense of pride and resilience filling the void. Loved proving the naysayers, narcissists and nasty-minded people wrong. My oldest went on to Uni and graduated with excellent grades. The second is at Uni. Me myself? Well, compared to many single mums, to say I am thriving would be an understatement. I've never had one job; one source of income just isn't enough when it is only your income keeping a roof over your children's head. Creativity, boundless energy, a positive mindset and a willingness to try new things - including dressmaking, hairdressing, DIY, plumbing, electrical, car mechanics and construction work too!! Don't get me wrong, it has been tough but I believe my experiences have made me the resilient, resourceful, independent, confident, self-sufficient successful social entrepreneur, mum and woman I am today. Big up all single mums! We got this!!! If there are any single mums who need a pep-talk, a shoulder to cry on, some advice or whatever, know that you can always call on other single mums - including myself!!! You are not alone. #SingleParentsDay #SingleParentCommunity

  • It is two weeks since our sold out International Women's Day event. Feedback for #DefinitionRedefined: A Commission on Black Women & Girls has been overwhelming. Sponsored by Voice4Change England the event was a multi-layered event featuring: 💞 The Single Light Photographic exhibition a collaboration between Soul Purpose 360 and @Inkygrey photography aka Sharon D. as part of the #DefinitionRedefined Campaign. Members of the National Black Women’s Networking & Empowerment Circle were invited to pose as subjects, their images juxtaposed against a pitch-black background, highlighted by a single light, showed the ‘strength’ of Black women's characteristics emanating from the darkness into the light. 💞 The conference was opened by a beautiful composed contemporary dance performance by Zela Gayle, blending movement to words from the #DefinitionRedefined campaign. 🏪 We had a full-on pop-up Marketplace, another collaboration between Soul Purpose 360 and Millian Market led by Charm Miller.  The body of the conference had four Keynote speakers: ☑️Ngozi Cadmus spoke about the importance of Rest in the life cycle of Black women, and the relevance of Rest in pursuit of health and resistance. ☑️Professor Dr Nira Chamberlain OBE took the conference on a mathematical journey, captivating the delegates which his campaign to treat equality as a science problem.  ☑️Diana Chrouch OBE reminded the conference of the role that Black women have played in advancing Black feminism from the USA to the UK. ☑️ Roz Etwaria delivered a powerful talk on Misogynoir, highlighting the disparity between white feminism and Black feminist principles. The event featured a plethora of panellists, hand-picked for their unique talent and contribution to society.  🟣 Panel 1 - Redefining Success was chaired by CEO Palma Black and consisted of four amazingly talented and successful Black women from different industries: Charlene Greenaway, Daniella Blechner, Doreen Sinclair-McCollin and Dr Rhoda Molife.   🟣 Panel 2 - Voices of Young Black Women Leaders was chaired by Diana Chrouch OBE who expertly engaged four young women, Lexi Duberry, Michaela Queensborough, Chelcie Thomas and Cherrelle Abraham-Brown, in a conversation about individuality, talent, overcoming challenges, feminism and their aspirations for the future. 🟣 Panel 3 - The Case for a National Commission on Black Women and Girls was chaired by Roz Etwaria and included a diverse spectrum of voices including Grace M., Lara Oyedele, Matthew Johnson, Debbie Willis-Dwyer and Palma Black who debated widely with questions from the audience. • Soul Purpose 360 recognises the sentiments expressed in this powerful research report and video. Unfortunately many decades of mistreating Black girls has led to Black women with unmet trauma, still navigating through life bearing the scars and pains of our childhood. That is why we are organising a national Commission on Black Women and Girls because change is necessary at a systemic level. #DefinitionRedefined #BlackGirls #BlackWomen #CommissiononBlackWomenandGirls #ChangePolicy #ChangeSystems #IfNotNowWhen

🐝 New report: See Us, Hear Us - The Perceptions and Wellbeing of Black Girls in Secondary Schools 🐝 Milk Honey Bees has published an expanded research report exploring the experiences of Black girls across London.
