Healthtech has a new coworking space. I’ve joined as a founding member. SomX and NXGN are founding partners. And this is going to be fun. Hale House is in the renowned Harley Street Health District and it’s the new home for healthtech innovators. You can work there flexibly, they’re hosting events and partners like us are putting on masterclasses. It’s run by Spacemade and they’re aiming to become the UK’s most collaborative ecosystem for healthtech innovators. We’ve needed this for a while and there is a lot that I’m going to do here for the healthtech space. Thanks to Natalie Brown for getting us involved. #healthtech #digitalhealth #medtech

Will LLMs ever be regulated medical devices? James Dewar says yes, 100%. And you should listen to him. James is the cofounder of Scarlet, the notified body that issued Skin Analytics' recent Class III EU MDR certificate for the world’s first autonomous AI skin cancer detection system, so when he says that LLMs will become medical devices, we listen. Will the key will be mitigating for a lack of determinism? An adjustment of risk appetite en masse? Will this be a new question in your medical school ethics exam? If you want to learn about James' background, how to go about starting a notified body, learn about the regulatory landscape in healthtech from someone who really knows and hear the full context on LLMs as medical devices, grab it wherever you listen to The Healthtech Podcast. #healthtech #aiinhealthcare #LLMs #digitalhealth

🗣️ Founders, are you exploring all your funding options? Is venture capital really the best fit? What other options do you have? Dr. James Somauroo spoke with Ashish Patel to dig into the origins of VC, why it exists, and what alternative funding models could work in healthtech. One idea was more venture debt... Could that: 🔹 Help startups scale sustainably without the boom-and-bust cycle of VC? 🔹 Encourage profitability at a smaller scale, rather than forcing high-risk hypergrowth? 🔹 Deliver more impact than existing startup programmes like accelerators and incubators if corporates moved that budget? How do we break the 'massive raise, massive scale required, massive collapse' cycle? Have a listen to the episode of The Healthtech Podcast wherever you get your pods. #healthtech #funding #vc
