In the next year, £13.9 billion of funding will be allocated for transformational research and development 🧬 UK researchers will be backed by record levels of funding to lead on life-changing projects like creating blood tests to diagnose dementia earlier, or building world-leading testing facilities to power a greener planet. More young people are being targeted and blackmailed by organised crime gangs into sending intimate images of themselves, thinking they're speaking to someone their age. Criminals then blackmail them into handing over money, threatening to release these intimate images if not. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) works tirelessly every day to help support victims and tackle child sexual abuse material online. New laws in force under the Online Safety Act require tech companies to take action to prevent and remove illegal content from their sites.
