We were delighted to attend the Islands Economy Showcase at the Scottish Parliament to promote our business alongside others from all over Scotland's island communities. Huge thanks to Jamie Halcro Johnston MSP, Jamie Greene MSP, Finlay Carson MSP, Alasdair Allan MSP, Rhoda Grant MSP and Kate Forbes MSP, Deputy First Minister of Scotland, for the round table, and our own MSP Beatrice Wishart. The event brought together representatives from the Scottish islands in an immensely productive way and we look forward to building on what might be achieved going forward.

About us
SaxaVord UK Spaceport is a multi-use, vertical space launch site in the UK located on the island of Unst in Shetland, Scotland. Our site has been chosen to host the UKSA’s UK Pathfinder launch, which will be delivered by Lockheed Martin and ABL Systems, in 2023. We offer direct routes to key low-earth orbits, providing a wide range of launch services and ground station services to our global client base. We work with our clients from the early stages of launch planning and testing, through to take off, using the expert advice from our team on the ground and our state-of-the-art technology, engineering and data facilities. Integral to the UK’s space economy ambitions, SaxaVord is building a highly skilled workforce, championing STEAM education and supporting the economic growth of local communities in Shetland. The company was formed in 2017 by CEO Frank Strang and his wife Debbie Strang at the former RAF Saxa Vord base, with the launch site at nearby Lamba Ness .

Congratulations to our client Rocket Factory Augsburg - RFA for gaining its launch licence from the Civil Aviation Authority. A hugely significant day for the UK's vertical launch capability. Onwards to the first mission!
📢𝗥𝗙𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲!! We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded our Spaceflight Operator Licence by the UK Civil Aviation Authority! This historic licence makes us the first European company to receive regulatory approval for orbital rocket launches from mainland Europe 🤯 The licence is not limited in time and covers a wide range of orbits and trajectories. All three key regulatory authorisations required for an RFA ONE test flight in 2025 from SaxaVord Spaceport have now been granted 🚀 What a vote of confidence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority and UK Space Agency, thank you!
