For children and equality for girls.

About us

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity striving for an equal world. One where every child can reach their full potential and every girl can choose her own future. Poverty, violence, and discrimination still hold back millions of children around the world. And it’s often girls that are most affected. That’s why ensuring girls get equal chances in life is at the heart of everything we do. We work across more than 75 countries to build a future where every child is safe and receives an education. A world where all girls are free from violence, in control of their own body, know their rights and have their voices heard. And if disaster strikes, we’re there too. We work to protect children, keep them learning and help their communities recover. But we don’t do it alone. To create lasting change, we work together with children, local communities, partners, and supporters, like you, who believe a better future is possible. We won’t stop until we are all equal. Will you?

  • Remember the notes you had to send your teachers when you were at school? 📄 From permission slips for school trips and excuses when you forgot your PE kit. To absence notes when you were sick or couldn’t make it in because of snow. But imagine if you had to drop out of school for good. What would that note say? Suhad, 14, is now living inside a school in Gaza. She moved here after her home was destroyed during the recent conflict.  If she had to write an absence note to her teacher this is what it might say 👇 Find out more about Suhad's story and why millions of girls are missing out on school every day: https://bit.ly/3U1SQ05

  • Children in Sudan are trapped in a devastating cycle of violence, hunger, and displacement, following 2 years of relentless conflict. This has led to the world's largest humanitarian crisis, and time is running out to protect Sudan’s children from further suffering. Together with long term supporter Joanne Froggatt we are calling on the UK Government to act now and protect Sudan's children before it is too late. Join us and demand action today ➡️ https://bit.ly/42cFRgB Together, we can #KeepEyesOnSudan and make a difference 💙

  • No child should experience what the children in Sudan are going through. We need an immediate end to all violence and hostilities across the country to end the suffering. #KeepEyesOnSudan

Tomorrow marks 2 years since conflict erupted in Sudan — 2 years of unimaginable suffering, especially for children💔 Since the conflict began in April 2023, 📍An average of 1 child every 10 seconds has been forced to flee their home. 📍6.5 million children are now displaced — nearly half under the age of five. 📍17 million children are out of school. 📍11.6 million children are facing crisis levels of hunger. 📍Over 3,150 grave child rights violations have been reported in the last year — including rape, abduction, and forced recruitment. This is now the world’s largest child displacement crisis — and yet, it remains one of the most underreported and underfunded emergencies globally ⚠️ 30.4 million people — including 15.6 million children — urgently need humanitarian aid. We cannot stay silent. We cannot look away. Children in Sudan need protection, education, and lifesaving support — and they need it now. 👉 Help us give children a future beyond conflict. • After two years of conflict, Sudan is experiencing the world's largest humanitarian crisis. Without urgent action it could soon become the worst famine the world has seen in over 40 years. Time is running out. Violence, displacement, and restricted aid access have left millions struggling to find food and basic essentials. Conflict, starvation and disease are killing more men, women and children every day. UK aid organisations are joining together to highlight this largely forgotten crisis. Help us #KeepEyesOnSudan and sign our petition ➡️ https://bit.ly/42cFRgB

      +1
  • This week, Neisha, a member of Plan International UK's Youth Advisory panel, joined the UK Government's delegation to the UN Commission on Population and Development to champion sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls worldwide. Neisha's experience of youth activism in her community, and her commitment to intersectionality have pushed her forwards in her preparation these past months. Neisha spoke about how preventable pregnancy and childbirth complications remain a leading cause of death for adolescent girls. She emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive sexuality education, which equips girls with the knowledge and tools to recognise violence, access reproductive healthcare—including safe abortion—and take charge of their futures. Carrying forward voices from fellow activists Afi and Augusta from Togo and Sierra Leone, Neisha called on governments at the UN to meaningfully involve young people in decisions that impact their rights. Because when we work together, we are stronger. 👉 When women, girls, and marginalised groups are empowered, they lift up entire families, communities, and economies. 💪 #SRHR #AWorldWhere

  • Myanmar was already facing a severe humanitarian crisis before the earthquakes. Now the communities in Myanmar are in desperate need as access to shelter, clean water, food, medical care is cut off due to damaged infrastructure. Children are among the most vulnerable. Some have been separated from their families, many are facing uncertainty, and girls especially are at risk of harm and exploitation. Our teams on the ground, alongside Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) members, are working around the clock to provide life-saving assistance. But your help is vital. Your donation can provide life-saving aid and support to families in crisis. Donate today ➡️ https://bit.ly/41Xo0tT

  • Many children in Myanmar have lost everything. Their homes, their schools – even their loved ones. The damage to infrastructure has cut children off from accessing what they need to survive: safe shelter, clean water, food and medical care. Along with other members from the Disasters Emergency Committee our teams are on the ground, delivering essentials—food, blankets, clean drinking water, and emotional support for children. But so much more needs to be done. Your vital donation can provide warmth, safety, and hope to a child in need. https://bit.ly/41Xo0tT
