"The power of the suit gives confidence. If you look confident it speaks volumes about the company you are representing". Liz Field MSc, concludes the first day of the #PIMFAWomenSymposium25 by conducting a fireside chat with Kathryn Sargent, the first female Master Cutter on #SavilleRow. 🚧Obstacles faced in a male dominated industry - not being taken seriously by colleagues or clients. 🏃♂️To overcome this - getting to know clients and understand what they need as an individual, being reliable in advice helps to maintain long term relationships. As with clothes individuality is important. Stay with our instincts and be honest as clients don't fit one mould. Don't be afraid to gently tell your clients if they are wrong about something as a tailor would with making a clients outfit. #tailoring #financialadvice

'Women's life events - understanding the impact of divorce, the gender pensions gap and care responsibility trends'. This is the conversation being held in the investment topics stream of this afternoon session of the #PIMFAWomenSymposium25 between Charlotte Lambeth at Charles Stanley , Hollee Vivian LLB (hons) FPFS at Aberdeen Financial Planning, and Roxy Z. at Howden Insurance Brokers Limited. Takeaway points: Life changing events that you need to discuss with your clients: 💶Ways women can help reduce the gender pensions gap. 💍The impact of divorce - what you can put in place for your clients in this position. Only 7% of couples divorcing only seek financial advice. Include any disclosure you have on divorce in your literature. 🗨️ Bereavement - be empathetic and don't assume how your clients are feeling. Treat your clients with vulnerabilities as human individuals and listen more than you talk. 👶🧓 Care giving - the burden tends to fall on women rather than men whether it be children of parents. 59% of unpaid carers are female. This has an impact on juggling work and caring loved ones. It has an impact on their financial status, health and anxiety. Take the cost of care into consideration with your clients. #pension #pensiongap #financialadvice
