ICYMI: Lessons on music, collaboration, and change 💥 Charlotte Greensmith, one of our first Community Impact Coordinators, writes on the lessons she learned during her time with us. "I am passionate about the power of young people’s voices and how we must include them to ensure that our work is relevant to the communities we serve... It's easy to shy away from involving young people in the decision-making process. However, incorporating strong youth voice into projects is crucial to ensuring that our work is not just relevant to the communities that we work with, but also belongs to them." ⭐ SPOTLIGHT ⭐ Today we're shining a light on Giddy Goat! 🙌 Music in the Round's Ensemble 360 have been delighting audiences across North Yorkshire with a captivating tour of Giddy Goat, a lovely show based on the children’s book. Families and schools enjoyed the engaging story, brought to life with specially composed music by children’s composer-in-residence, Paul Rissman. Our partners at AMP Music reached a range of schools across Skipton, Settle, and Whitby, introducing many students to live music for the first time while also reconnecting with schools that have been part of the tour for years! Young people across the country are making music in unique ways! 🎼 Our Music, Our Way – Students from four schools premiered their original compositions with Royal Northern Sinfonia in Redcar, performing to a packed audience at Eston Leisure Centre. Their pieces will be performed again at Tees Valley Music Service's Big Sing this summer! 📚 Barbara Throws a Wobbler – In partnership with Britten Sinfonia and Peterborough Music Hub, we’re bringing Nadia Shireen’s stories to life through music, helping Key Stage 1 pupils explore themes of anxiety, resilience, and friendship. 🐐 Giddy Goat – Music in the Round's Ensemble 360 delighted young audiences across North Yorkshire with a musical adaptation of Giddy Goat, introducing many children to live orchestral music for the first time.
