A Visit Powering the Future! We were delighted to welcome Tracy Gilbert MP for Edinburgh North and Leith to Nova’s headquarters in Leith on Friday. During her visit, she viewed our control centre, where she saw first hand how our floating solar and tidal energy technology is driving Scotland’s clean energy revolution. From manufacturing cutting-edge turbines to monitoring energy generation in real-time, she experienced the innovation shaping the future of renewables. Nova’s Floating Solar Powers Through Storm Éowyn. Scotland recently faced the full force of Storm Éowyn, however, amid these extreme conditions, Nova’s floating solar demonstrator continued to deliver clean, secure power to Forth Ports HQ in the Port of Leith. Since 2023, the demonstrator has faced over a dozen named storms, with Storm Éowyn being the harshest test yet – with no storm damage. With availability of 100% to date, the floating solar technology is a testament to Nova’s robust design. Nova’s floating solar technology exemplifies how innovation and sustainability can work together to create systems in challenging environments while supporting a cleaner, greener future. A new report from The University of Edinburgh highlights the game changing potential of marine energy, forecasting £8bn in economic benefits for Scotland and the creation of 15,000 jobs in the UK by 2050. This is a major moment for the sector – and for Nova. As pioneers in tidal and floating solar energy, we know that the ocean is one of the world’s greatest untapped energy resources. The UK, with its powerful tides and vast marine space, has a golden opportunity to lead the world in ocean energy. But to realise this potential, continued investment, supply chain support and infrastructure development are essential. The report reinforces what Nova has long believed: marine energy isn’t just a clean power source – it’s a major driver of economic growth, energy security and job creation. As we continue deploying tidal turbines and floating solar, we are proving that the ocean can power homes, businesses and industries – all whilst securing a sustainable future.
