About us

A community of digital experts who work across the NHS in England. Together, we work on products, services, programmes, IT systems and operations that improve lives for patients, carers, staff and communities. This space is where we can share news and best practice, job opportunities and ideas as well as develop our thinking through collaboration and problem solving. Part of our collective purpose is to transform the NHS – not only by empowering patients but also supporting clinicians, releasing more time to care. This is more about our approach than the technology itself. It is how we work, what it feels like to deliver, how we put our users first, how we experiment, and how we deliver brilliant products, services and programmes. We need to be bold and reimagine a future NHS. If we can get on the same page about the best way to deliver, then we stand a chance of delivering the transformation of the NHS in a different way…‘The Digital Way’.

Health data is a powerful tool - it fuels research, drives innovation, and ultimately improves patient care. But how it’s used, governed, and shared must be shaped by the voices of those it impacts the most: patients, the public, and healthcare professionals. That’s why the joint digital policy unit at NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care has been engaging directly with the public to understand their views on data use in research. Their newly published report reflects insights from over 2,000 people, outlining key recommendations on governance reform and the value of data in healthcare. This work is a crucial step towards a more transparent, trustworthy, and patient-centred approach to health data. 📖 Read the full report here: National engagement on data: https://lnkd.in/efdN_u-j #HealthData #PublicEngagement #NHS

“They say that if you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together. Those words always resonate with me. Maybe because, having worked in strategic communication roles for over 30 years, I know it’s true. Working in comms isn’t just about telling the news; we’re aiming to bring an organisation’s vison to life. A vision that everyone can believe in and understand the unique role they play in making it happen. The well-known story of the NASA colleague meeting the President comes to mind…this colleague was helping to put a man on the moon, and he knew it. Storytelling and amplifying colleagues’ voices are key to achieving this; because to help shape a future we can all believe in, we need our individual views and experiences to work together. That’s how we achieve brilliant things, and that's why change.nhs.uk needs your voice. I hope you'll share it.” ✏️Marc Silverside, Deputy Director of Comms and Engagement
