"This is a long-over-due recognition that miscarriage is not just a 'women's issue' but a family, workplace and societal issue. And while unpaid leave is not perfect, this legislation at least ensures that people will no longer be foreced to choose between their grief and their job. It's about dignity and compassion. And it's about time." "This progress didn't happen by accident. It is the result of tireless campaigning by charities like the Miscarriage Association, the Women and Equalities Committee, and individuals who refused to be silent about their suffering." A huge thank you to Hannah Strawbridge for writing this impactful piece, highlighting the importance of recognition of early pregnancy loss as a result of the upcoming changes to bereavement leave. Hannah highlights how vital support for employees is, and the opportunity to take time to grieve should exist for all affected by pregnancy loss. It's crucial that employment law and culture reflects the fact that the lines between personal and work blur - and that support exists for when one affects the other. You can read Hannah's piece in full below. #PregnancyLoss #Miscarriage #BereavementLeave #BereavementLeaveLegislation Yorkshire Post

Thank you Yorkshire Post Business and Greg Wright for enabling me to use my voice and their platform to talk about things that matter. Most of us have either directly or indirectly been affected by early pregnancy loss and it's important that employment rights reflect how devastating it is. Recognition to the Miscarriage Association, the Women and Equalities Committee and Sarah Owen MP who helped bring about change here. #employmentlaw #bereavementrights #miscarriage

We’re proud to support an open letter to Employment Minister Alison McGovern, calling on the Government to take action on women’s health in the workplace. Backed by 28 organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD) and Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM), the letter pushes for further action to help employers invest in best practice policies for pregnancy and baby loss, menopause, fertility and menstruation. Only 37% of employers offer support for pregnancy loss – this needs to change. Find out more here: https://ow.ly/W2Cm50Vy5nO #SupportingEmployees #WomensHealth #WorkplaceSupport #PregnancyLoss

“This project is deeply personal to me. It’s my way of breaking the silence and stigma around miscarriage, opening up conversations that I hope will help women feel less alone. By sharing our stories, I hope to show others that grief and healing don’t have to be faced in isolation." Rachael Munro-Fawcett experienced a miscarriage at 11.5 weeks in 2022. Since, she has come together with other women – friends, family, and peers – to share their stories, alongside their portraits, taken by Rachael. The project aims to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy loss, and help others going through this heartbreaking experience feel less alone. Thank you to Rachael, Anna, Claire, Leah, Belinda and Riva, for sharing their stories.
