Key take away from the first day at #DPRTE2025: - never heard SME’s mentioned so many times in one event! - a clear recognition that across the UK defence sector there are significant capacity/ procurement risks within existing supply chains, so a genuine desire to expand into SME’s/ enable new entrants into the market - an enormous pipeline of work across all key defence Client organisations as a result of existing spending commitments and new money - acknowledgement that historically going at pace is not something the sector has been good at, so innovation is key to enabling this - massive changes and growth within a number of MOD owned organisations - presenting both risks and opportunities - the impending Defence Industrial Strategy will be key and needs to be a game changer in respect of the relationship between industry and government/ defence procurement - defence spending has the potential to bring about meaningful change and the investment should not just be about security but also about growth - a real and tangible sense of national purpose - a touch of the ‘blitz spirit’ and a coming together of all elements of the sector - something to be proud of and a chance to deliver a positive legacy for future generations. Looking forward to Day 2!
