✨ Huge congratulations to Riyadh Alghamdi, a 1st year PhD student Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science on attending their very first conference — European Workplace Drug Testing Society (EWDTS) in Barcelona. He presented his research titled: "Evaluation of xylazine immunoassay test strips for the rapid in-situ detection of xylazine: Assessment of limit of detection and selectivity." This study addresses a critical and timely issue: the potential use of xylazine immunoassay test strips in an “off-label” context. While previous studies, have suggested possible utility in this space, Riyadh’s findings indicate that these strips are not suitable for reliable in-situ detection of xylazine. The research highlights important limitations in both detection sensitivity and selectivity. These results carry important implications for both workplace drug testing 🏢 and harm reduction efforts 💊, especially as the field continues to struggle with the rapid emergence of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) ⚠️. #EWDTs2025 #PhDResearch #Xylazine #Immunoassay #NPS #DrugTesting #HarmReduction #AnalyticalToxicology #PublicHealth #EarlyCareerResearcher

LRCFS Deputy Director Professor Anne Coxon and LRCFS Digital Learning Technology Lead Pauline Mack were pleased to contribute to and present at the first ENSFI Education and Training Taskforce event about our professional development courses and how we are approaching meeting the training and education needs of the forensic science community.
Dear ENFSI LinkedIn Community, We are happy to share the wonderful experience that everyone had from the 1st ENSFI Education and Training (E&T) taskforce One Day One Topic Seminar hosted by our colleagues from the Estonian Forensic Science Institute. A brilliant day spent learning about the challenges of developing e-learning within ENSFI WGs and Academia with excellent examples of successful course. Incredibly insightful with a little time for socializing too!! Looking forward to follow up on all the discussions. And thanks to all the speakers & participants and ENSFI and the Estonian Forensic Science Institute for supporting this wonderful event.
