Say YES to Ball Games! 🏀 🦁 We are proud to join forces with London Sport and Saatchi & Saatchi on their mission to transform outdated ‘No Ball Games’ signs into real opportunities for play within London. This groundbreaking initiative by London Sport aims to transform ‘No Ball Games’ signs into vibrant basketball hoops to encourage children to exercise. With an estimated 7,000 ‘No Ball Games’ signs across London, too many children are growing up without safe spaces to be active. This campaign isn’t just about removing signs—it’s about removing barriers to play and advocating for real policy change. London Lions players helped unveil the first reimagined sign – now a fully functional basketball hoop – at the Mursell Estate in Lambeth with the aim of shining a spotlight on the city’s youth inactivity crisis and the role that these outdated signs play in it. Team Captain Ovie Soko, a champion for youth empowerment, says, “This initiative is exactly what London’s young people need. 11 residents from our Barnsbury Estate transformation project with Newlon Housing Trust took to the court with Ruchae Walton, a coach from the BC London Lions.🏀    Ruchae led them through shooting, passing, and dribbling drills, before they put their new skills into action in a game.  Our partnership with the BC London Lions has brought basketball right into the heart of our communities, first with the Cubitt Town Girls and now at Barnsbury. The London Lions are excited to announce we have received backing from the Mayor of London to develop a world-class, purpose-built basketball arena in the capital. The proposals include plans to create a cutting-edge training and game-day environment for the London Lions men’s and women’s teams. “London is now the sporting capital of the world and I am thrilled to support the London Lions as they pursue their ambitious vision to establish a state-of-the-art basketball facility in our city,” Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said. BC London Lions owner Tomas Okmanas said: "London Lions has the potential to build a basketball stronghold in Europe, powered by incredible local talent and strong ties to a rapidly growing fan community. Such ambitions and goals require a dedicated top-tier venue.
