Highlighting the #WomenAtLeica this Women's History Month. Meet Maria, from our Flagship Store, Leica Store London Mayfair. She joined the team three years ago, and while you may not always spot her in the store, her creative touch for our visual merchandising can be seen throughout the space. Maria’s cameras of choice are her Leica MP and SL2-S, sharing, “I've always had a passion for analogue photography, as I love experimenting with different types of film. I also enjoy Leica M-Lenses on my SL2-S camera, as it gives me more control.” Outside of Mayfair, Maria can often be found on long hikes or exploring new corners of London, with her camera in hand she’s always ready to capture her next shot. 📷: Image printed using the Leica SOFORT 2 #WomensHistoryMonth #LeicaCamera #LeicaUK

On Wednesday evening, we had the pleasure of welcoming Time+Tide Watches to Leica Store London Mayfair for an exclusive showcase of the Leica watch collection. We were joined by Henrik Ekdahl, the Managing Director for Ernst Leitz Werkstätten GmbH – The Leica Accessories Division and Russell Sheldrake, UK Time+Tide Editor. Together they discussed the history of Leica watches, tracing the origins back to Ernst Leitz I’s education as a watchmaker before founding Leica. Bringing the story into the present, they delved into the intricate craftsmanship behind the current watch collection and highlighted the shared artistry that bridges the worlds of photography and watches. Exploring the personal and political with Priya Suresh Kambli, the US winner of the 6th annual Leica Women Foto Project! For over 20 years, Priya has rephotographed and recontextualised her family archive, transforming absence and loss into an evolving record of belonging. Inspired by vernacular Indian studio portraits, Priya realised her work could be rooted in the tangible heirlooms she carried—fragments of history packed in a 45-kilogram suitcase. Priya receives a Leica SL3 kit and a $10,000 grant to continue reflecting the complexities of memory, identity, and inherited narratives. See more: https://bit.ly/3QOO5Vx

'Blood Summons / La Sangre Llama' by Koral Carballo, the Mexican winner of the 6th annual Leica Women Foto Project! Through photography and oral history, Koral explores Afro-descendant and mestizo roots in Veracruz, tracing family trauma and transforming that inherited emptiness into visual storytelling. Veracruz was a key entry point for diasporas during colonial times, where Indigenous, African, and impoverished European communities were enslaved and exploited, shaping Mexico’s complex history. Koral receives a Leica SL3 kit and a $10,000 grant to continue reclaiming erased narratives and demanding justice, not as an act of division, but of collective healing. Highlighting the #WomenAtLeica this Women's History Month. Meet Andrea, our Office Manager and PA at Leica Camera UK. She joined the team nearly a year ago and has quickly become vital to our Leica office, ensuring everything runs seamlessly while keeping a keen eye on all our day-to-day operations. Beyond her decade of professional expertise, she has also channeled her creativity into running her own jewellery business, crafting bespoke handmade pieces for her clients. Now, an exciting new chapter awaits as she prepares to welcome her first child this summer. We have no doubt she’ll embrace motherhood with the same dedication and excellence she brings to her role as our Office Manager. Her camera of choice is the Leica M11-P, sharing, “It’s perfect to learn the art of photography with, the manual process of the M-Cameras allows me to learn so much more about the skill that goes into capturing an image.” 📷: Image printed using the Leica SOFORT 2 #WomensHistoryMonth #LeicaCamera #LeicaUK

'Ashes from Stone' a photo essay by Anna Neubauer, the UK winner of the 6th annual Leica Women Foto Project! Anna celebrates individuals who defy societal norms of beauty, strength, and identity. Through intimate portraits in personal spaces, this project challenges stereotypes and the 'inspirational' trope, instead highlighting the lived experiences of independence, interdependence, and resilience. Each image, paired with a personal narrative, fosters empathy and shifts perspectives, encouraging a more nuanced and empowering view of diversity. Anna receives a Leica SL3 kit and a $10,000 grant to continue amplifying marginalised voices through her imagery, which redefines femininity, identity, and disability across diverse cultural backgrounds.
