  • At KKI, we know that when we prioritise our wellbeing, we thrive as individuals and as a community. Our recent Four Months of Wellbeing (4MOW) initiative was designed to inspire colleagues across the region to embed healthier habits, foster connection, and improve mental and emotional health. Over four months, we focused on specific aspects of wellbeing, with engaging weekly sessions on: 👉 Mindfulness & Meditation: Using tools to build resilience in daily life 👉 Mental Health & Wellbeing: Exploring mental health in a digital age 👉 Belonging: Embracing identity and community 👉 Physical Wellbeing: Exploring the impact of nutrition, exercise and the workplace on health Throughout the campaign, we were delighted to see enthusiastic participation from over 850 attendees, hearing from speakers including our President Jeremy Morgan, Chief International Business Officer and Managing Executive Officer Abdul Mullick, digital wellbeing expert Alessandra L. and cognitive hypnotherapist, Suzette Shahmoon.   4MOW has been a transformative journey! We look forward to applying the valuable lessons learned – both in our personal lives and in the work we do for patients. See below to read some key takeaways our 4MOW participants shared with us. #KKIMakingPeopleSmile #WorkplaceWellbeing

  • We’re thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest intern recruitment cycle! 🎉 Since launching in 2023 with just two interns, our programme has gone from strength to strength. This year, we originally planned to welcome eight interns into our 2025 cohort, but the talent pool was so outstanding that we couldn’t resist expanding – bringing 10 exceptional new hires into the fold! And we’re not stopping there! For our 2026 intake, we’re aiming even higher, with plans to increase our intern intake by an impressive 50%! The feedback from academic institutions across the UK has been phenomenal. They’ve praised not only the seamless and inclusive recruitment process but also the supportive, nurturing environment we’ve built – one where people truly take care of each other and where we always make room for a smile 😊 To all our new interns – welcome! We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make. And to everyone who applied, thank you for your enthusiasm and passion. The future looks bright! #KKIMakingPeopleSmile #KKICareers #FutureTalent

  • Did you know that 70% of the global health workforce are women, but women are underrepresented in senior healthcare roles and earn on average 28% less than men? When it comes to gender parity in the healthcare industry, we still have a long way to go. Following International Women’s Day, we held a thought-provoking panel discussion with colleagues from across the region to examine the current gaps in gender equality, and how we as a healthcare company can address these issues head on. With thanks to our hosts Céline Rhême and Olivia Kager and our panellists Angela Williams, Daniel Davies, Emilie Bugeat Toussaint and Steve Cumming for an insightful, far-ranging discussion covering the role of unconscious bias in the workplace, how real word data can drive gender equality, and the importance of allyship to foster lasting change. At KKI, our commitment to gender equality extends beyond one day of awareness. We will continue doing all we can do to #AccelerateAction all year round, for our colleagues, our loved ones and the patients we serve. #KKIMakingPeopleSmile

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day!   Kyowa Kirin's Chief People Officer, Shoko Itagaki, shares her inspiring message on the importance of women's health, wellbeing, and breaking down barriers. 💪 Let's #AccelerateAction for a more inclusive future! 💜    ------------------------------- International Women's Day 2025: Accelerate Action for Women’s Health and Wellbeing Happy International Women’s Day! This Saturday, March 8th marks International Women’s Day (IWD). It is a global day dating back over a century to 1911, dedicated to honoring the achievements of women. As a female leader of Kyowa Kirin, I am grateful to all the pioneering women who have paved the way for us and our future female leaders. Here at Kyowa Kirin, Diversity is embedded in our DNA. Our Diversity efforts create a ‘safe space’ for all, ensuring everyone can bring their full self to work. As this year’s IWD theme emphasizes—‘Accelerate Action’—it is also a call to pay attention to women’s health and wellbeing, which has a huge impact on women’s lives, careers, and futures. Being physically and mentally resilient and energized to do one’s best work isn’t a luxury—it should be the norm for everyone. When women have access to the care they need, they thrive. And when women thrive, so does Kyowa Kirin, communities, and the patients we serve around the world. So, let’s break down barriers and start championing women’s health and wellbeing. Whether it’s supporting workplace wellbeing, advocating for better policies, or simply checking in on the women around us—every action counts. And it starts simply with caring about each other. A successful, super team is a diverse one, and it drives innovative and life-changing value creation. At Kyowa Kirin we are dedicated to creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued, and everyone feels respected and included, regardless of gender. Our commitment to Diversity remains unwavering, and we strive to provide equal opportunities for everyone to grow and thrive. Finally, I encourage you to show your support for IWD by striking the #AccelerateAction pose and sharing your photos. Let’s lift each other up, celebrate the wins, and keep pushing for a healthier, fairer future. Let's work together to accelerate action and create a more inclusive future for all. • As Rare Disease Month draws to a close, and to mark yesterday’s Rare Disease Day, The Telegraph recently spoke with two of Kyowa Kirin’s leaders, Angela Williams, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research Head, and Ernesto Aycardi, Global Head of Development. They spoke about how patient partnerships are helping shape treatment breakthroughs in the rare disease space. Their discussion highlights a core truth: meaningful innovation in rare disease starts with putting patient experiences front and centre. • As an ally to those affected, we are proud to once again participate in EURORDIS’s #LightUpForRare campaign and asked our colleagues worldwide to collectively light up for the millions of people who live with a #raredisease. • During the month of February, at Kyowa Kirin we are focused on supporting the rare disease community in its efforts to amplify awareness. Equity is not just a goal; it’s a responsibility. For the rare disease community, equity in care and opportunities means so much more than medical access – it’s about living full, empowered lives. Together, we can create a world where everyone impacted by a rare disease has fair access to: •               Comprehensive care networks that address their unique needs. •               Inclusive educational, workplace, and societal opportunities. •               A voice at the table in decisions that affect their lives. This Rare Disease Month, let’s reimagine equity together. Let’s help remove barriers and work to create policies that will allow all patients equitable access to diagnosis, care, and the resources needed for the best possible health outcomes. Because equity is about justice, dignity, and possibility for all. #MakingPeopleSmile #RareDiseaseDay #LightUpForRare #ShowYourStripes #EURORDIS

  • In Paris, leading experts in rare diseases and public health came together for a crucial roundtable on newborn screening—one of the most powerful tools in accelerating diagnosis and transforming patient outcomes. With France introducing nationwide sickle cell disease screening in November 2024 and planning to add SCID (severe combined immunodeficiency) and SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) by mid-2025, critical questions remain, including: how can we ensure faster, more equitable access to life-changing diagnoses? Emilie Bugeat Toussaint, President of Kyowa Kirin France & BeNeLux, who joined the roundtable, emphasised that the pharmaceutical industry must step up as a key player in early diagnosis of rare diseases—not only by supporting cross-functional initiatives but also by forging private-public partnerships and driving innovation. KKI is proud to be part of this movement, working alongside experts to encourage the development and expansion of newborn screening.
