We’re proud to announce a new partnership with the University of Arkansas, focused on understanding how solar farms can double as local wildlife habitats! 🌱 🦋 Using wildlife cameras, bird and bat recorders, and on-site sampling, researchers are tracking everything from mammals and birds to butterflies and amphibians across 90 solar sites in Arkansas and Kansas, including Happy, our 95MW solar farm in Arkansas. The goal? To understand how solar farms can double as wildlife habitats and develop the best ways to enhance biodiversity on sites across the US. The 2025 Global Energy Review from the International Energy Agency (IEA) paints a clear picture: the global energy landscape is changing. In 2024, electricity demand surged by 4.3%, nearly double the decade’s average. This spike was driven by record-breaking temperatures increasing the need for HVAC use, the electrification of transport, and the expansion of AI and data centers. What's interesting is how the world is meeting this rising demand. Low-emission energy sources, including renewables supplied 80% of the increase in electricity generation. For the first time, these low-emission sources now account for 40% of total global electricity production. In 2024, 700 GW of new renewable energy capacity were installed globally, marking the 22nd consecutive year of record growth. The energy transition is in progress but there is still work to be done to facilitate it. Read the full report below or visit our website to see what we're doing to support renewables development: www.jeranex.com
Our Global Energy Review 2025 is out now! 🚨 It shows that energy demand growth surged in 2024 to almost twice its recent average. This was led by electricity use, with record global temperatures boosting demand for cooling. ▶️ Read the key findings in the press release → https://iea.li/41VMt1r ▶️ Explore the full report → https://iea.li/41Q8mzj ▶️ And tune in to the LIVE launch event from 11:30 CET → https://iea.li/4kNqceZ

Zenobē has launched Europe's largest battery storage site - an important step towards improving UK, European and global grid systems. With the share of power from wind and solar expected to grow from ~10% today to nearly 70% by 2050, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), grid infrastructure like BESS is crucial for balancing variability and deploying renewable energy efficiently. JERA Co., Inc. has been an investor in Zenobe since 2019, and since the investment was moved into the JERA Nex portfolio after our launch last year, we've been working with the Zenobe team to scale BESS and other critical infrastructure that underpins the energy transition. 🌱 Congratulations on this milestone team Zenobē!
Zenobē launches Europe’s largest battery storage site🔋⚡ We are excited to announce that Europe’s largest battery storage site at Blackhillock, Scotland, is now officially operational. This landmark project is a crucial step towards achieving the UK government's target of a net-zero power grid by 2030. ⚡Total Capacity: 300MW/600MWh (equivalent to powering 3.1 million homes for one hour) ⚡Phased Launch: Phase 1 200MW is live today, with an additional 100MW to follow in 2026. ⚡Location: Strategically placed between Inverness and Aberdeen to address grid congestion from Viking, Moray East and Beatrice wind farms. The site is also the first in the world to provide Stability Services to the network operator, ensuring renewable power is more secure and reliable. Blackhillock will save consumers an estimated £170 million over the next 15 years and help avoid 2.6 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. James Basden, Zenobē Founder Director, commented: “Today marks a critical juncture in Britain’s clean power journey as Zenobē adds over 30% to the capacity of operational battery storage in Scotland. Battery storage has an essential role to play in our transition to renewable energy, so I’m proud that Zenobē and our partners are leading the way by launching Europe’s largest and most technically advanced battery." Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Energy Minister Michael Shanks MP added: "We are wasting no time in delivering clean power by 2030, with the Blackhillock battery site marking the latest milestone in delivering our mission to become a clean energy superpower. With every wind turbine put up, solar panel installed, and battery facility constructed, we are protecting families from future energy shocks. Battery sites like this are helping store our clean, surplus energy to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels – which will protect households and boost our energy security for good.” Fintan Slye CEO of National Energy System Operator, said: “The delivery by Zenobe of this grid forming battery is a major accomplishment and brings us a step closer to this goal. Battery storage is critical to the future reliability and affordability of the UK grid and pairing it with this grid forming technology can unlock even greater resilience for a net-zero network” Blackhillock has set a new benchmark for the integration of battery storage assets into the transmission network to secure a more resilient and renewable energy future.
