World-leading Aerial Delivery Systems, Naval Decoy Solutions, Parachutes, and Search & Rescue Equipment

About us

1919 – Present IrvinGQ® is the world’s most trusted design and manufacturing resource for Aerial Delivery Systems, Naval Decoy Solutions, Parachutes, Search & Rescue Equipment. We preserve the internationally established brand names of Irvin & GQ Parachutes and maintain for over 100 years, the proud traditions of these predecessors, in continuing to supply products of quality and reliability. Our work is highly skilled and interesting, and very meaningful. We regularly hear of and publicise incidents where lives have been saved by the products made by our employees. The formation of IrvinGQ®: On the 19th April 1919, Leslie Leroy Irvin made the world’s first free-fall parachute descent in the USA and formed Irving Air Chutes later that year, establishing a European factory for the mass production of parachutes in England in 1926. At about the same time, James Gregory and Sir Raymond Quilter foresaw the need for widely available and dependable parachute systems for aircrew and formed GQ Parachutes in 1932. The 1930s saw both companies established as major suppliers of emergency escape parachutes to the world’s air forces. Irvin-GQ was formed in June 2001 following the acquisition of Irvin Aerospace by Alchemy Partners and the resulting merger with GQ Parachutes Limited. Following reorganisation of Group activities in 2007 we began trading as Airborne Systems. On the 12th June 2018 we proudly launched as IrvinGQ®. • VE Day 80: A timeline of survival Richard Churchill was one of just 23 men to survive recapture after The Great Escape. A Caterpillar Club member and Squadron Leader, he later walked 300km across Europe as a prisoner of war. This May, that same route will be cycled in tribute from Żagań to Berlin as part of the VE Day 80 commemorations, and IrvinGQ® is proud to support the ride. IrvinGQ® is proud to support: VE Day 80. Riding to Remember. On 8 May 2025, a group of veterans and friends will cycle 300km from Żagań to Berlin, a powerful journey to honour those who served and sacrificed 80 years ago. Among the riders is Roger, whose father was the last survivor of the Great Escape, who passed away in 2019, and a member of the Caterpillar Club - a group formed of those who survived by parachuting to safety with an IrvinGQ® parachute. Now, his son rides in his memory. They'll ride not for medals or records — but in quiet tribute to those who came before. As we mark 80 years since Victory in Europe Day, this journey honours the stories they carry, stories of survival, service, and sacrifice. If you'd like to support the ride and the cause behind it, you can donate here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e3s5YnGQ ✨ 80 years on, the legacy rides on. ✨ #VEDay80 #RidingToRemember

Do you have a story of a loved one who served? A personal connection to the war effort? A memory passed down that deserves to be heard? We'd love to honour them. ✨ Real people. Real stories. Remembered together. ✨ If you're happy for us to share your story (with permission and full credit), please email sales@irvingq.com or message us directly.

  • Two more lives saved by the trusted partnership of Martin-Baker ejection seats and IrvinGQ® parachutes. Behind every successful Martin-Baker ejection, there's the reliability of IrvinGQ® ensuring a safe landing.

Yesterday, during a practice demonstration, two Patrouille De France Alpha Jet aircraft collided near Saint-Dizier. Both pilots and a passenger successfully ejected using the Martin-Baker F10LN Seat 🔻 #EngineeringForLife

Yesterday, Andrew Smith, our Engineering Manager, had the privilege of visiting Coety Primary School to give a STEM talk to two Year 6 classes. He shared insights about IrvinGQ® and gave them a closer look at our product range, along with some videos of trials and testing that we conduct. He also dove into the fascinating world of engineering, explaining the design process and demonstrating how a parachute works! 🪂 The highlight of the day was an exciting hands-on activity. The students split into groups and were tasked with designing and making a parachute using a variety of materials, with the challenge of safely landing an egg without it cracking when dropped from the school roof! All the kids showed off their creativity and engineering skills, with some fantastic designs created. More importantly—no eggs were broken! 🥳 A big thank you to the students for their enthusiasm and to Coety Primary School for the opportunity to engage with the next generation of engineers! #STEM #Engineering #IrvinGQ #FutureEngineers
