Another fantastic initiative from our Skills Outreach team, who recently had the privilege of meeting students at Xaverian College in Greater Manchester to introduce them to the exciting world of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Informed’s Thomas Watson, Tegan O'Connor and Thomas Williams led an engaging, interactive session exploring how AI is shaping industries, creating new career opportunities within the tech sector, and how we at Informed are using it to tackle real-world challenges. From biodiversity protection to improving health outcomes, we demonstrated how AI can make a meaningful difference. It was inspiring to interact with such an enthusiastic group of students, discussing how AI works, the ethical considerations surrounding its development, and the diverse career pathways it can enable. From debunking myths about AI to showcasing its potential for positive impact, our goal was to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of digital innovators. We were truly impressed by the students’ insightful questions and eagerness to understand the processes behind AI and its transformative potential as it continues to be rapidly integrated and deployed across various sectors. At Informed Solutions, our Skills Outreach team is dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to explore careers in technology. Through hands-on sessions and career insights, we strive to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that students from all backgrounds feel encouraged to pursue opportunities in digital and data-driven fields. As part of our Tech for Good ethos, we believe in using technology responsibly to build a more inclusive, fair, and sustainable society. Through initiatives like this, we aim to inspire future digital leaders to harness AI and data for positive impact - helping to address complex challenges while prioritising ethical and responsible innovation. We look forward to continuing our engagement across communities, helping more students navigate their educational journey and confidently step into the world of digital. #TechForGood #DigitalSkills #STEMSkills

We were delighted that Informed Solutions' Group CEO and Export Champion, Elizabeth Vega OBE DUniv was invited to share her insights on operating in diverse markets at the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) Indo-Pacific Roadshow in Manchester. Alongside Lee Ali, CEO of Expo Stars Interactive Ltd, Elizabeth discussed how Informed Solutions has strengthened its operational resilience by diversifying its product and platform business into International markets through a growing partner and customer network in Australia and Malaysia. The conversation highlighted the vast opportunities in South Asia and Asia Pacific, with UK exports to these exciting and ambitious growth markets already surpassing £90 billion annually. A key takeaway was the importance of understanding local economies, business practices, the psychology of trading, and of fostering effective on-the-ground relationships, which help strengthen corporate governance, build resilient cultures, and develop effective teams with open and global mindsets. As our own international expansion continues at pace, we’re proud to support and inspire businesses embarking on their international trade journey and thank the Department for Business and Trade for its effective and enduring partnership and support. #ExportingisGREAT #DigitalTransformation Philomena Chen, Bev Mullin, Susana Córdoba, Greater Manchester Chamber, UK, The Growth Company, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC), techUK, Digital Leaders, British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC), Australia-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, Australian British Chamber of Commerce, Manchester Digital, ScotlandIS

We are proud to announce that InformedDECISION™, our AI-powered decision support platform, has been deployed nationally by NatureScot to safely and securely accelerate and enhance sensitive land management across Scotland. Following a successful regional pilot, the platform is now being used to speed up decisions on statutory consultations and regulatory advice, improving efficiency and reducing processing times by up to 60 percent, while cutting average application completion time to just 11 minutes. By integrating AI, automation, and data-driven insights, InformedDECISION™ supports expert case officers by: - Reducing document management workloads - Identifying relevant historical cases - Helping to address and resolve queries that do not require specialist input early. Stakeholders, including farmers, landowners, and developers, are benefitting from an improved, simplified application process with integrated mapping tools and intelligent workflows. Co-developed with NatureScot as part of the GovTech Catalyst Challenge, supported by The Scottish Government’s CivTech Scotland Programme, this platform was designed to be scalable and reusable, enabling efficiencies across high-volume, complex decision-making environments. The pilot results highlight its transformative impact: - 50 to 60 percent reduction in case triage time - 65 to 85 percent reduction in manual effort to gather and collate case data - 40 to 60 percent reduction in processing times for routine consultations This innovation earned InformedDECISION™ the Digital category award at The Scottish Government Scottish Planning Innovation Awards 2024 and marks a major step forward in using AI to support sustainable land management. A huge congratulations to the NatureScot team and thank you to CivTech, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and planning stakeholders across the UK for their collaboration in making this vision a reality. The 7th Digital Leaders Public Sector Innovation Conference on Tuesday 11 March was another outstanding event, bringing together 180 leaders from central and local government, the private sector, and the third sector. The discussions focused on how AI can make public services smarter, more efficient, and more impactful, exploring the opportunities AI presents for transforming service design and delivery. The conference was structured around three key themes: optimising operations through AI, maximising impact and value creation, and ensuring inclusive and responsible AI adoption. These themes framed insightful discussions on how AI can improve service delivery while ensuring accountability and trust. We were delighted to contribute to these conversations, based on real world experience of designing and delivering responsible, trusted, tested, and proven AI at scale for healthcare, policing, and environmental management. Informed Solutions' Chief Innovation Officer, David Lawton presented an AI-at-scale exemplar, demonstrating how NatureScot is using AI to accelerate planning decisions and support protected areas in Scotland. Following his presentation, he joined Professor Mark Thompson where amongst other issues they explored the importance of developing foundational data readiness, skills and user centred approaches to successfully scale AI. Informed UK CEO, Seth Finegan then joined Chi Onwurah MP, Chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee, for a fireside chat on the future of AI-first public services. Their discussion explored the UK Government’s ambitious AI transformation agenda, and agreed on the need for a people-centred approach to build trust, ensure accountability, and deliver real-world impact. They also addressed the importance of balancing risk with opportunity; strategically investing in skills and establishing regional AI Innovation Zones to drive sustainable, inclusive growth. A key takeaway from the conference, and from both discussions in which Informed Solutions participated, was the critical need for a user-centred approach in every aspect of AI adoption. Whether in development, implementation, policymaking, or frontline service delivery, AI’s success depends on bringing people on the journey, ensuring its benefits are fully realised while proactively identifying and mitigating risks. We look forward to another year of driving AI innovation and public service transformation and to returning next year to share further insights and progress. A huge thank you to Robin Knowles, the Digital Leaders team, fellow speakers, and everyone who contributed to the high-quality discussions. CivTech Scotland

Delivering complex digital business change projects within strict, often unpredictable legislative deadlines presents significant challenges, particularly for public sector organisations. These challenges are myriad and exacerbated when project delivery begins before legislation is finalised or when proposed changes encounter resistance from affected stakeholders. In such cases, delays can often carry legal and operational sensitivities, underscoring the importance of meeting deadlines with precision and reliability. Addressing these challenges requires a structured and responsive delivery approach, which needs to be designed to manage uncertainty, tight timelines, and external pressures, whilst maintaining a focus on value. Through our work on national-scale public sector projects, we understand the challenges of delivery through fluid and changing policy and legislative landscapes. In our latest blog, Managing Consultant Michael Power considers our approach in providing a structured, repeatable process that helps clients overcome these challenges, building in core principles that ensure projects deliver value, even when faced with fluctuating requirements or unforeseen external pressures.
