Last week, ILM and Lucasfilm employees across San Francisco, Vancouver, and Burbank competed in the annual Rock Paper Scissors tournament! A tradition started in part by ILM’s Michael DiComo and Eddie Pasquarello, the tournament began as an ILM SF crew party event while working on Star Trek in 2008. Similar events were hosted by Michael with the ILM SF crew while working on the first Avengers movie and Warcraft. In 2015, Michael carried this tradition over to ILM’s technology teams across multiple sites. This year, Burbank took home the win - and the bragging rights!

Last Friday, ILM celebrated the grand opening of its new Vancouver studio with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Honorable Ministers Brenda Bailey and Spencer Chandra Herbert. During the ceremony, Janet Lewin, SVP, GM and Head of ILM, shared her vision for the future of the studio, which includes exciting initiatives like the Jedi Academy. With this new location, ILM’s Vancouver studio is set to become a hub for creativity, technological innovation, and collaboration in the city’s thriving film and entertainment industry.
