  • Last night, Cleo Oldham, Madeline Hafner, and Matthew Rea had the pleasure of attending the SSP Group plc Charity Gala—an incredible evening hosted by the SSP Foundation to support projects tackling food poverty. 💙 Not only was over £210,000 raised for such an important cause, but the food was incredible—cooked by a mix of celebrity chefs, SSP chefs, and hotel chefs.   • We had a fantastic time attending the Airport Experience News Conference in Washington, DC, where we connected with key airport concession operators. Some surprising insights emerged from the event: 🍽️ Food services now dominate airport sales at 80%, while traditional retail accounts for just 20%—a major shift since 2019. 💰 Affluent travellers (35% of visitors) drive 71% of spending. Valuing priority check-in (34%), expedited services (21%), and premium parking (14%). 🛋️ 94% of loyalty program members see lounges as essential, with 78% open to tastings and 50%+ willing to purchase products in lounges.     …what Nicholas Key said. An awful day for so many passengers either looking to get home for the weekend or starting a trip. I hope the airlines don’t become the target of their frustrations, there’s literally nothing they can do about it, but technology does take away the sting. Good luck to all the emergency services and engineers looking to restore services, the airline staff facing angry passengers and best wishes to the passengers themselves currently stuck somewhere on their journey - they can rest assured everyone is doing their best to take the strain away.
