About us

INTERNATIONAL BORDER MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGIES ASSOCIATION (IBMATA) IBMATA is a not-for-profit international non-governmental organisation committed to the safe and secure movement of people and goods across international borders. Our mission is to bring together experts, practitioners, academics, policy makers and technology providers to develop and promote best practice in the application of modern border management principles;, and the intelligent use of new and emerging technology. We will do this by: - Building a platform for communication and collaboration between government and border agencies, intergovernmental organisations, non-government organisations, international transportation agencies, ports, airports and technology suppliers; - Developing and managing a series of international events and workshops for members and partners; - Building a library of relevant materials relating to the principles of modern day border management and latest advances in technology; and - Working with our members and partners to identify models of best practice. Membership is open to: - All Government departments and agencies charged responsible for managing the international movement of people, goods and materials across national borders; including pre-entry, on-entry and after entry applications; - Intergovernmental organisations with a vested interest in the management of people and goods across international borders; - Non-governmental organisations with a vested interest in the management of people and goods across international borders; - Transportation companies with a legitimate interest in supporting our aim; - Port, airport, and other management entities with a legitimate interest in supporting our aim; and - Technology suppliers, business integrators and other private sector entities who support the safe and secure movement of people and goods across international borders whilst facilitating flow, in accordance with the aims of the organisation.

    Oleme olemas ja aitame seal kus oskame, ka keerulistel tundidel. Saime eile õhtul abipalve Leedu kolleegidelt, kes soovisid meie koerte ja koerajuhtide abi leidmaks neljandat USA sõdurit, kes oli Pabradė polügoonil uppunud soomusmasinas. Kohe pärast abipalve laekumist alustasime kaardistama võimalusi, kes ja kuidas saaks Leedu kolleegidele appi minna. Oma abikäed ja -käpad ulatasid koheselt Maik ja tema juht Risto ning Tiit ja tema juht Alar. Kahele ametnikule ja koerale lendas Leedust järele USA armeekopter. Koerad koos juhtidega jõudsid kell kolm öösel Leetu, et juba mõned tunnid hiljem otsingutöid alustada. Loodame väga, et saame selles traagilises olukorras olla abiks, et aidata leida küsimustele vastuseid. Neli USA sõdurit kadusid Leedus 25. märtsil. Sest ajast saati on käinud nende ulatuslikud otsingud. Eile, 31. märtsil tõmmati Pabradė harjutusväljakul välja sohu uppunud soomusmasin. Paraku olid soomukis kolme USA sõduri surnukehad. Neljanda USA sõduri otsingud jätkuvad. Politsei- ja Piirivalveamet

Panel Discussion: Countering International Crimes – Moderated by Hernán Garrido-Lecca (Securiport), this discussion examined ongoing cross-border crimes and how governments, NGOs, and industry can collaborate to combat organised crime. Panelists included: Mario Cordero Vejar (UNODC) – Insights from the Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants Section in Central America and the Caribbean. Jose Reginaldo Veras (Brazil Federal Police) – Addressing challenges at the Brazilian border and organized crime networks. The day wrapped up with Tony Smith’s closing remarks, reflecting on the crucial collaborations shaping the future of border security. Managing Immigration in The Bahamas Chadville Adams (Bahamas Department of Immigration) provided an overview of immigration procedures, strategies for handling peak-season travel while maintaining strong security protocols, and a glimpse into the future of border management in The Bahamas. Hernan Garrido-Lecca (Securiport) showcased innovative solutions in border security and risk assessment, reinforcing the role of technology in smarter, safer travel. Balancing Tourism, Facilitated Travel, and Security – Antigua & Barbuda Perspective Katrina J.
