  • We are so incredibly proud to support The Archer Project and the vital work they do for people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield. From volunteering in their donation space, taking part in their rough October sleep out last year and raising over £2000 at our 10th birthday celebration. It has been a privilege to contribute in any way we can. We wanted to share these lovely kind words that Lucy Wilks (Deputy Head of Fundraising) from the Archer project shared about us a few weeks back. Fun fact - we didn’t pay them to say these nice things or even ask them! They genuinely wrote this on our behalf, and we want to say a massive THANK YOU! This reminds us why we do what we do; It’s all about the collective impact, celebrating real partnerships and helping those in need within the Sheffield community. 💛

The team have spent time volunteering in our donation space, took part in our Bossin It sleep out and even raised funds at their 10th birthday party last year! Thanks to their support and generosity we are able to continue the vital work we do supporting people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield." said by Deputy Head of Fundraising Lucy Wilks, Archer Project. It also features The Archer Project logo and Hive IT logo
  • ✨ A massive well done to Duncan Watson, our Technical Director at Hive IT, who has raised a whopping £385 for the Chesterfield Hedgehog Rescue & Rehabilitation by running this year's Sheffield Half Marathon last month. Chesterfield Hedgehog Rescue & Rehabilitation are a not-for-profit organisation run by the fantastic Donna Hatton, who last year helped Duncan rescue 4 hoglets whom their mother had abandoned. Hyperthermic and stricken with flystrike, Donna took them in late on a Saturday evening and looked after them fantastically. The money donated so far will be used to pay for food, medicine, and equipment for helping new and existing rescues. Well done on this fantastic achievement and for choosing to help support our wildlife population! 🦔 https://lnkd.in/e22FDiKh

We love supporting our team members in their activities outside of Hive IT! We were particularly excited to assist Kat (our awesome Frontend Developer) with her very first-ever Sheffield Lego League event. This inspirational STEM programme enables young students to design, build, and programme autonomous LEGO robots while developing key Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths skills. At Hive IT, we are proud to encourage STEM skills in youth. A massive thank you to Duncan Watson, Liz Hnat, and Nusrath Moh for being designated judges for the day and to Saicharan Muthyapwar for taking on the role of team helper. The event was an incredible success, and we want to congratulate Katherine Hurdley for organising it and letting us be a part of her journey to help and support the next generation through volunteering. Congratulations, Kat, we are very proud of you! FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE

✨ A few weeks ago, Connor McLoughlin and Allan Noy (from Hive IT) visited the beautiful Northern Slopes in Bristol to collaborate with our project partner Mechanimal, from the Design to Deliver Programme. We are working with Mechanimal on their project, "Deepwood," which aims to create an immersive audio experience. This project uses artificial intelligence (AI) to transform real-time tree data into a dynamic, spatial soundscape, blending technology and nature in a truly unique way. During our time together, we were able to conduct an incredible community engagement session with six participants, exploring a unique interaction with trees. Participants embodied the essence of a tree and shared heartfelt stories, providing us with invaluable insights! They engaged with live tree data and reflected on their experiences, sharing what they heard and felt during the session. This feedback will be crucial in shaping our next community engagement phase. Join us as we take you behind the scenes of the day! 💛 This project is part of Innovate UK’s Design to Deliver Programme, supporting new ideas to help regenerate nature. You can learn more about the project here https://lnkd.in/eGzWSN-c Digital Catapult | Connected Places Catapult |

  • We're so pleased to be able to give our team the opportunity to volunteer for causes that interest them. Yesterday 8 members of Hive IT spent the day tree planting at Ughill Farm which is practising Nature Friendly Farming. The team planted between 250 - 300 trees of different varieties to help establish a nature corridor for the future and to improve and stabilise the ecological landscape. Huge thanks to Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust for the opportunity to help at the Ughill project. The team had a great day and look forwards to revisiting their (hopefully established!) trees in the future.

Best work day of the year so far!! Using one of our volunteering days today, myself and a number of the Hive team headed off to Ughill Farm which is owned by Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust . We helped plant 250+ trees that will help create a connected nature corridor and stabilise the landscape. Things that today provided us: - immense feeling of satisfaction - physical and mental health and wellbeing improvements - team building and a shared sense of achievement - shared recognition and reminder that we work at a pretty awesome company In a job that is 90% being sat behind a desk, today was a great reminder how important it is to get outdoors. Huge thanks to Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust for hosting us and herding us! And huge thanks to Hive IT for giving us the opportunity to have days like these. If your organisation doesn’t allow for days like these, I’d be asking them why? The benefits for you and your team could be huge.

  • ✨ A couple of weeks ago, we joined the fantastic team at Nature Nurture to collaborate with the 'We Are More' after-school group. Located at the Springfield Allotments in Knowle West, Bristol, we were invited to trial the ‘Web of Life Quest,’ a project aimed at gamifying the exploration of the connections between plants and animals in the area. This initiative blends storytelling with interactive experiences in nature. During a community engagement session, we had the wonderful opportunity to test this project with a lovely group of children. The goal was to gather valuable feedback and insights for the co-creation of the project. We enjoyed watching how the children engaged with the game, and most importantly, they had fun! The game included scenarios that illustrated the impact of human behaviour on biodiversity, ultimately showing the children how their actions could support a healthy habitat. They learned about different species while also discovering the choices they could make to enhance their ecosystem. We look forward to using their feedback to refine and enhance this project even further. A big thank you to the wonderful mothers of the little ones, who let us get involved in their sessions and kept us well-fed and watered during the day. 💚 To learn more about the project https://lnkd.in/eGzWSN-c Natalie Ganpatsingh | Isabelle Ganpatsingh | Teresa Verney-Brookes | Innovate UK | Digital Catapult | Connected Places Catapult

What an amazing day at First Lego League, with so many lovely volunteers. The student teams were mind blowing, their enthusiasm and what they were doing with Lego robots, coding and brilliant innovation projects was absolutely inspiring. It was an absolutely brilliant experience to be able to hear about all their hard work and HUGE congratulations to all the teams for taking part and having fun (what it’s all about). I met lots of lovely new people, but my key take away from this week (which also involved seeing students from Sheff Uni Software Hut module) was just how bright the future of the digital industry and the wider STEAM industry is. We should be really proud of how well young people are applying themselves to developing their skills. Roll on next week!!

As International Women’s Day is getting closer, we thought it would be great to celebrate early and focus on the women at Hive IT who help make the organisation what it is today. We sat down with our amazing female team members and asked them questions like: - What inspired them to pursue a role in tech? - Who is a woman in their industry or field that they admire and why? - Which women in their lives inspired them the most? Their genuine and inspiring responses to these questions remind us that every day, whether they’re leading teams, refining processes or challenging outdated stereotypes in tech, these women are paving the way for a brighter future. Today, we simply want to say thank you. We will continue to support women, champion their voices and create more opportunities for women to thrive in the industry. 🐝 💛 Liz Hnat | Ellie Mosley | Nusrath Moh | Francesca Snatt | Amy Benson | Katherine Hurdley | Chantal K.
