It's important that loved ones understand the effect of chronic pain on a person's daily life. For millions of people, living with chronic pain can significantly affect daily activities, relationships, work, and well-being and can ultimately, lead to them feeling very isolated. So, here are four ways we can better support someone with a chronic condition: ✅ Provide a listening ear – Check in regularly to show your support. ✅ Encourage a sense of normality – Invite them to social activities. ✅ Avoid enabling behaviours - Encourage independence and motivate the person to participate in their daily activities as much as possible. It is important to not expect too much of a person when life is rocky, especially when health is unpredictable. ✅ Stay informed - Educate yourself about the specific condition causing chronic pain to help you better understand and support the person's journey. The best support you can give someone is continued love and understanding. On this #RareDiseaseDay, we interviewed patients with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder that happens when part of your immune system attacks and damages your red blood cells and platelets.   PNH can develop at any age and affects males and females in equal numbers.
