We’re so pleased to see that Aizemea Okojie, founder of EV3 Technologies, has a phenomenal £478,000 grant from Innovate UK. Aizemea said the Innovate UK funding is a game-changer, and with support from Health Innovation Wessex and the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, her firm is committed to delivering a product that improves quality of life for women and reduces the burden on healthcare systems. She’ll now be able to advance engineering design, end-user engagement and clinical trial preparations for her invention to support women suffering pelvic organ prolapse. If you have a medical device or other healthcare innovation under development, Health Innovation Wessex can help you with the process of creating a strong grant bid – whether that’s compiling the necessary information, forming beneficial collaborations with us or someone else in our extensive network, or a mock interview with our experienced experts for those really valuable grants. Visit Funding Support Service to start the process.

An exciting piece of news from our friends at the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit
Patients with advanced #melanoma are to be given fast-tracked access to a ‘revolutionary’ vaccine trial thanks to a SCTU-run national programme. The Prime Minister calls #cancer vaccine technologies 'nothing short of life-saving' as the NHS England #CancerVaccineLaunchPad expands. Read more - https://bit.ly/4lw7TLC The SCOPE trial is the latest vaccine trial to be included in the CVLP, which is run by the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Southampton Clinical Trials Unit on behalf of NHS England. The CVLP is able to match eligible patients to studies developing vaccines against different cancers at their nearest participating hospital. Paul Thomas from New Milton is already taking part in the SCOPE trial University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). “I feel so lucky to be put on the trial. I'm really hoping for total eradication of my cancer, as opposed to being put in remission and I’m feeling optimistic.” Professor Simon Crabb, Associate Director at the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit and lead for the CVLP at UHS, said: “The hope is that for patients like Paul, this additional cancer vaccine, in combination with the immunotherapy they are already being given, will be able to boost the body’s own immune response to the cancer. But importantly, cancer vaccines also induce a lasting response by creating an immune ‘memory’ that may delay progression of the cancer in the future.” University of Southampton, Health Research | Southampton, Faculty of Medicine (University of Southampton), Melanoma Focus, Scancell, Early Phase Cancer Research Team Southampton
