Backing founders building tech solutions for a stronger society

About us

We believe that digital technologies can accelerate the shift towards a stronger society where everyone has a good place to live, a purpose and good people around them. So we’re building a movement of likeminded people and organisations to help impact-led tech ventures to design, build and deploy game-changing digital technologies into social and public service delivery.

  • GoodTech Ventures is a finalist in the CMX Community Industry Awards 2025 🎉 held in Redwood City, California, right in the heart of Silicon Valley. For a small but mighty impact accelerator based in London, rooted in community, care, and social justice - this means something. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for us, thank you 🙏🏻 At the heart of everything we do is #community. For early-stage social impact tech founders, building something meaningful can be both exhilarating and incredibly stressful. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create a space that not only supports but also feels good, a place where founders can show up as they are, be understood, and leave feeling just a little more hopeful, more connected, more energised. We're proud to stand alongside so many inspiring communities nominated across different categories, it’s a reminder of the power of community to drive real change. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without the belief and backing of our brilliant supporters: Catch22 – who power the engine of GoodTech Ventures Social Tech Trust, Ufi VocTech Trust, Unity Ventures, and the UK Government via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) whose commitment has helped bring this community to life. And of course, a shoutout to the incredible team behind the scenes: David Hinton, Caelie Hawkins, Katherine Marcham, Chris Blues, Luca Jakab, Andy Canniford, Julian Boaitey, Candice Hampson and Emma Williams, our community builder, each one a vital part of what makes this community tick. Thanks again for cheering us on. This one's for every founder we’ve had the privilege to walk alongside so far 💚 https://lnkd.in/etCGCSKf #CMXAwards #CommunityDriven #TechForGood #ImpactTech #SocialImpact #FoundersFirst #GoodTechVentures

We see it time and time again at GoodTech Ventures, the right community and structure can turn ideas into investable ventures. From regular pitch practice to peer feedback and warm intros, accelerators can help you get funding-ready. Highly recommend giving Deepak’s full list a read (👇) packed with honest, actionable tips from the early days to raising £25m+. #GoodTechVentures #StartupTips #Fundraising #AcceleratorLife #ImpactTech

⚡ Co-founder at ODDBOX (£0->£30m in 6y) ♦Start-up Advisor to first-time founders ♦ 20+ yrs experience in Corporates and Startups

We’ve raised £25m+ in funding. Here are 10 lessons that helped us raise our first £500k and could help you raise your next round. Oddbox started in 2016, delivering veg in SW London, expanding street by street. By 2018, our waitlist outside the delivery area hit 2,000. We couldn’t grow fast enough and didn’t have the cash to scale. That’s when we decided to raise. Then, we had 1,500 subscribers and £500k in annual run rate. 1. Raise before you need the money - Give yourself approx 6 months - it always takes longer than you think - holidays/ calendar alignment / investors wanting to assess actual performance all add up 2. Get your talons into your network - We tapped our newsletter, our customers, and LinkedIn. - Someone always knows someone. Warm intros to investors work best. 3. Leverage existing ecosystems - accelerators or co-working spaces (if you are part of one) - We were part of the NatWest Accelerator which gave us focus, peer feedback, and constant pitch practice. 4. Show up where investors hang out - Eventbrite panels, startup meetups, TableCrowd dinners - we were out, we weren’t always pitching, but we were learning. 5. Go where the angels are - We pitched to syndicates like Thames Valley investment network and Oxford investment network. - we pitched to angels in our customer base - our first £250k came from ClearlySo’s angel syndicate. - Another £250k via equity crowdfunding on Seedrs, backed by our own customers. 6. Your pitch deck is never done - We worked with a freelancer (DM me if you want the name) to nail the story. - every pitch we did made it sharper. 7. Turn every tough question into a better answer - When we didn’t know something, we said so. We BS'd initially until we couldn't. - We found the answer, wrote it down into a FAQ list, and rehearsed it. 8. Prepare yourself mentally for rejection - One investor told us: “The Oddbox name sounds negative. Only friends, family and fools will fund this.” - Nos are just part of the game. Every no helped us refine the story. 9. Don't take your eye off the business - Fundraising can be a full time job. If you have a co-founder, get them to focus on fundraising whilst you focus on the running. - Else ensure you hire 1 or 2 strong second in commands to keep the business running. Its what we did. - Practice the 4Ds - Do, Delegate, Defer, and Delete (or Drop). Be ruthless with tasks. 10. Don’t DIY the legal mess We used SeedLegals for all documentation. Saved time, money, and stress. 🧠 If we did it again? We’d start earlier. Share the deck wider. And remember: rejection isn’t failure. It’s pitch practice. Which point resonates the most with you ? • Poor air quality is responsible for 8 million deaths globally each year, costs the world economy $3 trillion, and is the second leading cause of death worldwide. To address this, GoodTech Ventures Alumni, Air Aware Labs is on a mission to personalise air quality data for everyone and has launched AirTrack, a personalised air quality app that provides real-time, hyper-local data to help users minimise their exposure to harmful pollutants. With over 1,100 users across 170 countries already benefiting from the app, one user shared, “It’s proper science. The data is incredibly helpful – the visual maps and stats make it easy to see which routes have cleaner air. It’s helped me understand air pollution during my runs and adjust my route or timing to reduce my exposure.” To celebrate the launch, Air Aware Labs is offering free premium data to anyone who records their activity in the app or via Apple Health or Google Health Connect. For more information, visit www.airawarelabs.com or contact hello@airawarelabs.com. Sign up to AirTrack by clicking the link below 👇 #AirTrack #AirAwareLabs #AirTech #CleanAirTech
