5 Startups Turning Waste Into Opportunity! ♻️ Global supply chains are shaken by the recent tariff announcements. These challenges have inadvertently created a fertile ground for circular economy startups—companies that prioritise reuse, recycling, and resource efficiency. These five innovative companies are turning challenges into opportunities, transforming waste into valuable resources, and reshaping industries along the way. We're so excited to see this new Forbes article that we collaborated on with writer and founder of The Green Techpreneur, Marianne Lehnis, about five startups turning "waste" into opportunity! Especially in this economy, turning often overlooked byproducts or items into new or upcycled products keeps them out of landfill and gives them a second, renewed life! The five start-ups highlighted include: FabBRICK®, Voyage Foods, Clean the World, Trashy and Müll Club -- all of which we've visited and shared on Going Green Media’s Instagram in the past! Check out the article (link in comments), and let us know which solution most interests you! Startup founders: Kaitlin Mogentale, Charlie Rudkin-Wilson, Clarisse Merlet, Shawn Seipler, Adam Maxwell and Kelsey Tenney. #circulareconomy #sustainability

How Soon Will We Be Flying In Hydrogen Planes? Imagine boarding an aircraft that leaves nothing behind but water vapour. Today's aircraft emit millions of tons of CO2 into our atmosphere. But what if planes like these could fly on zero emissions? Watch the full video on YouTube (link in comments) We've arrived at the #AirbusSummit 2025 to speak with engineers and executives who are working to make hydrogen flight a reality. It's not just about planes either. Airports will need new infrastructure to store and refuel with hydrogen. Airbus are exploring different options for the design of the hydrogen plane. While they are not ruling out the possibility of Blended Wing Design, currently a Turbofan design is where they are focusing their attention. Could this be the sustainable aviation breakthrough we've been waiting for? Share this video if you want to see hydrogen planes in the air soon! 🙌 Thank you Glenn Llewellyn, Andy Reynolds and the Airbus Aircraft team for having us. • This is the first train in the UK to replace a diesel engine with a battery! Only 38% of rail lines across the UK have overhead electric lines*, meaning that diesel engines have been a necessity until now. Hitachi is dedicated to developing battery-electric trains that reduce noise pollution, are more environmentally friendly, and help improve air quality! This successful trial means that Hitachi Rail is ready to deliver the next stage of a full intercity battery-electric train. • How can we make every sector more sustainable? 🌎 Some sectors are easier to adapt to more planet-friendly practices, but others present more complex challenges. Creating a sustainable world requires all industries to undergo decarbonisation, from transforming heavy transportation with electric trucks to creating smarter data centers. Hitachi is transforming major sectors like transportation and energy. By integrating digital technologies into these industries, they're making systems more efficient, cutting emissions and driving sustainable growth. It takes all of us to build a sustainable future for all. Share this video and let's spark ideas that turn sustainability from ambition into action. #sustainability #ad

  • Data centres are responsible for up to 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions–more than the entire aviation sector! ✈️ Here are four ways we can make them more sustainable! 1️⃣ Installing renewable energy sources on top of data centres means that they can be powered by sun or wind! 💨 ☀️ 2️⃣ In Finland, Hitachi is helping to recover excess heat from data centres to heat homes and businesses. 🏡 3️⃣ Cooling makes up 40% of data centre energy use. Hitachi is innovating with liquid cooling to boost efficiency and cut energy use. ❄️ 4️⃣ By integrating recycled materials and renewable energy, Hitachi Vantara has been able to reduce carbon emissions in data centres by up to 96%. Share this post if you want to see more sustainable data centres! WHAT WILL WE BE EATING IN 2050? 🌎 Share this video if inventions like these intrigue you! 🙌 With a growing population and unprecedented environmental challenges- finding the answer to the question of how we will feed billions more people in the future has never been more urgent. The Taste of Tomorrow Exhibition in London by The Mills Fabrica is completely free to visit and is open till the end of July 2025, so go check it out! Thank you Poppy Lam, Shannon O'Hara and Viktoria Espelund for showing us around! Below are just a few of the inventions on display: 🌭 NovoNutrients These proteins are made from CO2 by using microbes to convert the CO2 into edible protein. 🍫 NuKoKo This chocolate is made from fava beans, not cacoa. Removing the social and environmental issues of chocolate while keeping the same great taste. 🧀 Better Dairy This cheese has all the stretch and meltiness of regular cheese, but without the dairy. By creating a plant-based casein, they have made the most realistic melting vegan cheese! ☕️ Morrow This coffee isn’t made with coffee beans. Instead it is made of locally sourced and upcycled ingredients like seeds and lentils! 🍞The Supplant Company This flour is made from oat hulls and wheat stalks. 2/3 of everything that’s grown on farms doesn’t enter the food system, yet it is still perfectly edible! 🧪Green Spot Technologies This is being made by fermentation by repurposing food waste. Maximising the harvest and reducing waste. Other inventions at the exhibition include: Kyomei, MicroHarvest, CH4Global, Avalo, Inc, CroBio and MadeSweetly. THIS IS WHAT GIVES US HOPE! 🙌🌎 With the US pulling out of the Paris Agreement and other recent news causing lots of uncertainty about the future of our planet we figured it would be a good time to share what is keeping us hopeful! Share this video if you are inspired by these projects! In this episode of the Inspire Action Podcast (link in comments), we are highlighting some of the most frequently covered topics of concern for the planet–from plastic pollution to biodiversity loss, and also showcasing the innovations, companies, and organisations fighting to create solutions and mobilise people to help solve these problems 🌎 The list of solutions offered here is not exhaustive, as there are thousands of people and projects doing good for the planet. The ones we highlight here include those that we’ve had the opportunity to visit through Going Green Media and witness the impact they’re having 🙌 Solutions mentioned in this video: 1. Notpla - Founded by Pierre-Yves Paslier & Rodrigo García González 2. Trashy - Founded by Kaitlin Mogentale 3. FabBRICK® - Founded by Clarisse Merlet 4. SweGreen - Founded by Sepehr Mousavi 5. Toast Brewing - Founded by Louisa Ziane & Tristram Stuart 6. Wildlife Bridges in the Netherlands 7. Minitopia - Founded by Tessa Peters Doom-scrolling on social media or a quick watch of the news can make you feel like the world is ending sometimes. There seem to be plenty of headlines covering war, natural disasters, and human suffering, but it can be much more difficult to find stories of hope that are offering solutions and support to local, regional, national, or even global issues. We hope this episode brings you a sense of hope for our future!💚🌎 #gogreen #ecodesign #goinggreen #nature #sustainability #eco #sustainable #earth #sustainabledesign #design

HOTEL SOAP ➡️ SAVING LIVES 🧼🙌 5 million bars of soap are thrown away  every day by hotels in the United States alone! This company is turning this waste into new soap and is donating it to those who need it. Share this video to support this amazing project! We recently visited one of Clean the World’s recycling operations centres in Florida and were amazed by the incredible work they are doing. If you like seeing projects like this make sure to follow along with us at Going Green Media 💚 The soap is sorted, refined and sanitised before being compressed into new bars, and with the help of Carlos, who's been here almost since the beginning, they have so far managed to upcycle 85 million bars of soap! They are also constantly partnering with other small businesses innovating different ways to recycle the plastic bottles from hotel toiletries to create things like new, refillable bottles and even bricks for construction! The soap bars are sent to various international NGO partners providing access to hygiene products to millions, as well as are used in bigger hygiene kits sent around the world. In response to the recent LA fires, Clean the World’s partner NGO, The WASH Foundation have sent thousands of hygiene kits to those impacted in California. Hygiene-related illnesses are among the top two causes of childhood mortality worldwide. Solutions like this are having a huge impact on not just reducing waste, but also in saving lives! #goinggreen #innovation #sustainable 📸: Ciara Doyle Ben Brown Going Green Media
