  • World Autism Awareness Day is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about autism and promoting acceptance, inclusion, and support for individuals with autism. It's a day to celebrate the strengths and talents of people with autism. Every day at Godfrey Care’s services, we see the potential of people with autism when they’re supported and empowered to achieve their life goals. Inclusion is fundamental to progress. That means making sure their voice is heard, enabling them to make the decisions that shape their lives, and encouraging active participation with their wider circle of support. As a society, we can challenge stereotypes surrounding autism and advocate for a more understanding and supportive environment where each person can thrive. #WorldAutismAwarenessDay #AutismAcceptance #SocialCare #ComplexCare #Neurodiversity #PersonCentredCare

Godfrey Care’s Ash Tree House service in Burton-on-Trent is never shy of an opportunity to party. Their luck was in last week when the arrival of St. Patrick’s Day was greeted with customary enthusiasm! The support team went all-out to organise a worthy celebration. The service was decorated with all the traditional trimmings, including lucky charms, banners, shamrocks and leprechaun accessories alongside bunting, balloons and ribbons in the green, orange and white of the Irish flag. A St. Patrick’s Day table cloth was laid out for a delicious buffet for everyone to enjoy with a stream of classic music from Irish artists cued up on the playlist. Heather Wilkinson, Registered Manager at Ash Tree House, said: “At Ash Tree House, we always see special dates in the calendar as a chance to organise social activities and events. Every year, St. Patrick’s Day is inked-in for a big party! Everyone really enjoyed it, and the spread went down a treat. We were still in St. Patrick’s Day mode days after the event! We’re now busy preparing for a big Easter celebration.” Godfrey Care services across the midlands have been enjoying St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with similar gusto. We're green with envy! #stpatricksday #care #socialcare

  • Today is World Down Syndrome Day, an annual awareness campaign which aims to help people understand and support those with Down syndrome better. It’s a global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down syndrome. The theme for World Down Syndrome Day 2025 is a call for the world to improve our support systems. People with Down syndrome need support to live and be included in the community, like everyone else. Support comes in many forms, from social protection to access to transport and assistive technology. Whether it’s from friends, families or support workers, human support is fundamental. At Godfrey Care, we know from experience what a difference human support can make in promoting independence, inclusion and participation in culture, leisure, sport and employment. The right support can empower people to make important decisions about their lives, develop their skills and follow their aspirations. The theme for World Down Syndrome Day 2025 is an appeal that we support with passion! #WorldDownSyndromeDay #WDSD2025

  • Two members of the support team at Godfrey Care’s Pottery House service in Stoke-on-Trent are lacing up their running shoes for a 10K charity race! Emily Greatbatch and Chloe Mountford are participating in their first 10k run as part of the Festival of Running in Uttoxeter. They have chosen to raise money for The National Autistic Society, a cause that means a lot to them as Support Workers in a residential service which supports young adults with autism and complex needs. Emily said: “Running is something the both of us have recently taken up as a hobby. We started off attempting to complete the NHS Couch to 5K programme, a free running plan for beginners. Stepping up to a 10K distance is outside our comfort zone and something we saw as a challenge worth taking on. Together, we decided to add in the idea of raising money for charity as another motivation to push ourselves to complete the run.” The race takes place on the 11th of May 2025. In the meantime, Emily and Chloe are welcoming donations of all sizes via their fundraising page below. If you can spare some money, please consider making a contribution. Best of luck to Emily and Chloe – everyone at Pottery House and Godfrey Care is proud of your effort! https://lnkd.in/ej3wXpji

  • Over the weekend Godfrey Care celebrated the many women who contribute so much to life at our services. International Women’s Day was an occasion to recognise women's achievements and advocate a gender equal world. Godfrey Care are grateful to have skilled, talented and dedicated women driving our standards, upholding our values and realising our vision as Support Workers, Team Leaders, Service Managers, and Clinical Practitioners at our services. Women are also at the heart of Godfrey Care’s wider organisation, leading our operations, business development, recruitment, financial management, quality and compliance. And, of course, we are fortunate to support many wonderful women living at our services, inspiring us every day as we celebrate their progression and achievements. #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay

  • Love was in the air earlier this month at Godfrey Care’s Field House service in Burton-on-Trent, where a Valentine’s themed weekend was organised by the support team to show their affection. The home became a love-filled wonderland, with red balloons and paper hearts dangling from ceilings, red roses perched on heart-patterned tablecloths and a special gallery celebrating the people we support, with portrait photographs in heart-shaped frames. Red roses were handed out to each of the people we support. No celebration is complete without delicious treats! The support team prepared a hearty dinner and an array of Valentine’s goodies, from heart-shaped biscuits and marshmallows to Love Heart sweets and mouthwatering cakes. The people we support enjoyed popcorn and movies to cap an unforgettable occasion. Jorge Finn, Field House Registered Manager, said: “The party was a celebration of love, friendship, connection, kindness, and making each other feel valued. Hats off to the Field House team, they really pulled out all the stops and organised a wonderful weekend. Their hard work reflects the love and care that defines Field House. A big part of the support we provide involves shared experiences and memories for everyone to enjoy. The people we support really embraced the occasion and I’m sure there will be plans for more themed parties in the near future!”
