🌱🐄 Inspiring the next generation of land stewards Last month, we hosted Year 10 students from a local school for a hands-on day at our farm in Oxford, organised with Oxford Earth Academy. 🚜 🌾🔍 After researching soil health, they presented their findings before heading out to see regenerative farming in action. They were surprised to see contractors ploughing our arable land - until we explained how mob and bale grazing have boosted soil carbon and reduced compaction. The students spotted our empty cow sheds and asked, “Where are the cows?”, giving us great chance to discuss the economic and ecological benefits of outwintering. Armed with spades and curiosity, they dug in - counting worms, testing infiltration rates and scoring soil health. Their excitement was contagious! Wildlife highlights? Cattle egrets, woodpeckers, wagtails and a brimstone butterfly were all spotted. Spring is here 🦜🦋 #RegenerativeFarming #SoilHealth #FutureFarmers #Biodiversity #RegenAg #SustainableFarming

Senior food sector professionals are sounding the alarm on the #resilience of the UK food system. No more business as usual. The impact of degrading soil health, water scarcity, global heating and extreme weather requires us to kick into disaster preparedness mode.
🚨 Urgent Call to Action for the UK Food Sector 🚨 #InsideTrack has just published a memo from senior professionals within some of the UK's largest food #retailers, #producers, and manufacturers. They are sounding the alarm on the #resilience of the UK #food sector, stating: "Yield, quality, and predictability of supply from many of our most critical sourcing regions is not something we will be able to rely upon over the coming years. The data on degrading #soil health, #water scarcity, global #heating, and extreme #weather events back up what we are seeing from within the system: an interconnected set of #crises." 🌍💧🌱 The authors of the memo are concerned about the current response by companies, saying: "The climate risk reports of major food companies are filled with casual mentions of threats to the viability of our supply chains over the short to medium term. The strategies to mitigate these risks, however, are simply not material compared to the scale of the threat." ⚠️📉 The memo suggests critical questions for Investors, Directors, Owners, and Creditors to ask food companies. Here are two that made me think: ❓ "What would be the difference in your approach if you were to treat this issue as a #disaster preparedness exercise for a high likelihood and high impact impending crisis? How do the time and energy dedicated to this compare with that which the Board provided in other crises, e.g., #Covid?" 🤔💭 It's time for a proactive and robust response to safeguard our food system. Let's act now! 💪🌾 What do you think? 😊 Read the full memo here: https://lnkd.in/eueqCCWh

Great to see industry leaders in Vietnam’s shrimp sector embracing welfare as a driver of quality and sustainability! 🌍🦐 At FAI, we’re proud to support this shift with practical tools that help businesses stay ahead in a responsible, transparent market. #ShrimpWelfare #SustainableSeafood #AquaticWelfare
Raising the Bar for Quality & Sustainability in Vietnam’s Shrimp Industry Last week, #Creative_Labs_Asia had the privilege of leading a shrimp welfare assessment training for some of Vietnam’s top shrimp farms and processors. Despite being industry leaders, CASES, FIMEX, and KAfood continue to push for innovation—seeking new ways to improve both product quality and sustainability. Why does this matter? Because better welfare practices don’t just benefit the shrimp—they help businesses stay ahead in a global market where responsibility and transparency are more important than ever. Strengthening welfare and supply chain standards is not just an ethical choice—it’s a competitive advantage. A huge thank you to Seafresh and Amanda Food for making this connection happen and to FAI for bringing practical welfare assessment tools to the industry. Small steps today, big impact for a more sustainable shrimp future! #ShrimpWelfare #SustainableSeafood #Aquaculture #CreativeLabsAsia #VietnamShrimp

🐟 It’s World Aquatic Animal Day 🦐🌍 Traditionally, animal welfare has focused on land animals. But what about fish? Science shows they feel pain, experience stress, and have complex behaviours, yet their welfare is often overlooked. With billions of fish and shrimp farmed each year, this needs to change. At FAI, we believe better welfare starts on the farm. That’s why we’re working globally - from Brazil to Honduras, Southeast Asia to Egypt - putting practical, science-backed tools and training directly in farmers' hands to drive real, positive change. 📲 The Tilapia Welfare App: A free, research-based tool to help farmers assess and improve fish welfare at every stage of production, from hatchery to harvest and slaughter. 🎓 Online training courses: Accessible training on aquatic animal welfare to support better welfare practices across aquaculture. 🌍 Global projects: Supporting farmers and businesses worldwide to implement higher welfare standards in tilapia, grass carp and shrimp farming. This World Aquatic Animal Day, let’s push for better welfare standards in aquaculture. Healthier fish, better farm productivity, a more sustainable future 🐠🐟🦐 📢 Get involved and explore our FREE resources: 🔗 FAI Academy: https://fai.academy/ 🔗 Tilapia Welfare: https://lnkd.in/dsc-mZUD 🔗 Shrimp Welfare: https://www.myhhrimp.farm/ Special thanks to MURILO QUINTILIANO Øistein Thorsen Sara Barrento Marius Nicolini Ethical Seafood Research AQUAVET EGYPT Bio Creative Labs Co., Ltd. and our many other expert team members and partners! #WAAD #TilapiaWelfare #ShrimpWelfare #Aquaculture #SustainableFarming

Yesterday at FAI’s farm in Oxford, we had an incredible day learning from the ever-inspiring Tim Parton at our Soil Biology Brewing Workshop 🚜☕ Tim reminded us of a hard truth: our soils have been neglected for too long and the biology that can work for us, at little cost, has been eroded. But there’s a way forward! 🌾 💡 “Biology has got all the answers… It’s time we moved from the chemical age to the biological age.” It was great to dive into how biologicals can help farming systems transition away from a reliance on synthetic inputs, ultimately bringing control and resilience back to farming businesses. 🌍 Key takeaways from the day: ✅ Healthy soils mean healthier plants, boosting resilience and disease resistance ✅ Brewing biologicals is low-cost and high-impact – just start small! ✅ In Tim’s experience, biologicals improve soil aggregation, water infiltration, and soil food web function 📚Attendees saw firsthand how simple and affordable brewing set-ups are created and how they can help transition farms away from synthetic inputs. Starting a small trial area of the farm can be a great way of proving the value biologicals can have in your system. At FAI, regenerative agriculture is at the heart of what we do. Events like this help empower farmers with the practical tools to rebuild soil health and create a more resilient future. #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth #BiologicalFarming #SustainableFarming
