  • This week we want to shine a spotlight on our Head of Sound, Dan! Q: Tell us about a favourite feel good moment at work. A: Taking on both the British Grand Prix and Blur at Wembley Stadium on the same weekend was a huge challenge, but the team pulled off two incredible shows. It was a moment of immense pride. Q: What are you looking forward to in 2025? A: Glastonbury holds a special place in my heart. It’s my 15th year working at the festival, and it’s where I met my wife, making it even more meaningful. Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in live events? A: My passion for technology began early, I was that kid who always got in trouble for taking apart the family stereo. Q: Dogs or cats? A: Dogs, without a doubt! Seeing a stadium packed with people loving the music never gets old, it’s an unforgettable feeling every time. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • This week, our team member spotlight is on Adam, our multi-talented team member who wears many hats! Read a bit about Adam and his contributions to Entec below ☕️ In February 2025, I’ll be celebrating 40 years since I joined Entec, straight out of school. I started in the lighting department as an apprentice ,working in the warehouse and learning everything there was to know about lights. My first gig was Dionne Warwick at Royal Albert Hall, which happened to be televised—a pretty memorable start! From there, I hit the road with The Mission as my first tour, and stuck with them until I moved into the office in 1999. My first European tour was with Jimmy Cliff, and my first World Tour was with The Mission. Outside of work, I’m lucky to be married to my best friend, Lorna. Between us, we have five amazing kids—Beth, Kitty, Jonty, Nat, and our youngest, Thea, plus a cocker spaniel puppy named Isla. We love escaping to Cromer in Norfolk, our special place. Since the pandemic, I’ve focused on health and safety at Entec, which I’ve been coordinating for a few years now. This year, I’ve taken it further by doing a SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) technician apprenticeship to become Entec’s qualified H&S rep, which I’m set to complete by February—hopefully with a Distinction! If my life were a movie, I’d have to say my theme song would be What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong—especially since I met Lorna. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • This week we express our gratitude for our Assistant Head Of Lighting & Lighting Warehouse Manager, Patch! 🥁 Q: If you were a character from TV/Film who would you be? A: Jack Black Q: If you could only listen to one band/artist for the rest of your life who would it be? A: A tricky one but would say my bands set list. At least it would be a varied playlist of rock covers from 50s – modern day 🙂 Q: What is your favorite part of the job? A: The Best part of the job is seeing the whole process grow from a drawing right the way through to the end result with the live show. Hearing great feedback about the clients experience with Entec and how great our Freelance crew are. A Happy client = a Happy Patch! #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • Our spotlight is on our Assistant Head of Sound, Tom this week! 🔊 Q: Tell us about a favourite feel good moment at work A: From a personal standpoint, working on the Gorillaz World Tour 2022 with some incredible people and being able to visit some amazing countries all over the world. As a team, being able to be a pivotal part of the team to plan, prep and deliver audio packages for Glastonbury Other Stage and Silverstone F1 on back to back weekends this Summer. Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in live events? I have always loved music. When you speak to most people, their favourite memories are often from being at a live music show, whether that’s a festival or one off. The saying “if you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life” rings true with me as I still wake up every morning excited about the future projects we get to be a part of. Q: If you could only listen to one band/artist for the rest of your life who would it be? A: This is a hard one as I listen to so many different genres! I am currently listening to a lot of country so I’m going to have to say Luke Combs. Q: What has been the most impactful lesson you've learned along the way? A: Be the first one in and last to leave. A lot of the time it isn’t always about how much you know but if you are willing to work hard anything is possible. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • This week we are highlighting Matt Smith, one of our esteemed Audio Technicians! 🎤 Matt’s journey in live events began in school theatre, sparking his passion for live events. Matt’s favourite show to date was Al Murray at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in May 2023 where he mixed front of house as well as being the technical director for the tour. Feeling comfortable working in theatres and medium-sized venues, he is ready to tackle bigger stages. Having had a taste of arena work with Dream Theater, Matt looks forward to the challenges of larger venues, arenas, festivals and stadiums, where working with bigger teams and handling slick changeovers will be key. For Matt, a high of the job is travelling to different venues, from small theatres to grand stages. He loves making the most of his days off, exploring local culture—like wandering through Paris during the Olympics or discovering Berlin. The sense of community in the industry is a bonus, and he enjoys those moments of bumping into familiar faces far from home. Even when he’s back in the warehouse for a few quiet days, Matt stays focused on keeping the equipment in top shape. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • As she wraps up her internship with us, this week our team member spotlight shines on Kaitlin! 📸 It’s been a longtime dream of mine to work in London, so I’m incredibly grateful to Entec for hosting me as their marketing and social media intern. I’m originally from the U.S. and recently graduated from Endicott College, just outside of Boston, where I studied graphic design and photography. Music has always been a significant part of my life, and getting a glimpse into the live events industry has been especially fulfilling. One of the most memorable moments of my internship was photographing Dream Theater’s London show at the O2—my first arena gig, and an experience I’ll never forget. There’s something special about how live music connects people, and I feel lucky to help capture that magic. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #london

  • This week we want to shine a spotlight on our fearless leader, Noreen! Read more about her & her experiences with Entec below ⭐️ What is your role within the company? I am the Managing Director and Head of Lighting Have you experienced gender inequality within the events industry? Entec is known as a company with diversity and equality at its core. The mentorship of strong females has significantly shaped my career. Barbara Pendleton, Entec’s financial director, Jan Goodwin (RIP); Myra Hickey, Festival Director for Reading Festival, and Laurie Coombs/Cooper have all played pivotal roles in my professional journey. Career Highlight: It has to be TPI Awards 2017, where I was presented with “The Outstanding Contribution Award. TPI hosted a fantastic evening hearing, and seeing the VT messages from industry friends and colleagues worldwide was very special. I still cannot believe how Adam Stevenson, Nick Pendleton, and Mark Cunningham kept the secret from me. Career Low: Craig Duffy’s wake. It was an amazing send-off with a room full of love, but he was taken from us way too soon. We miss you, Craig. Feel Good Moment: Visitors to Entec. Northolt may not have the poshest postcode in London, but it is a great location to visit by Air, road, or public transport. We like people to drop in for a chat. Many of our full-time staff who have left to join other companies stay in touch, and the ones who have chosen a freelance career still keep in touch and often drop in for a tech day to brush up on a skill or two and impart their knowledge to the new starters it's all very gratifying. Pearls of Wisdom to pass on: Every day is a school day. Work hard, play less hard, be considerate and kind to those experiencing hard times, and never forget your hard hat. #EntecLive #EntecSoundandLight #liveeventproduction #skillsforlife #eventprofs #careers #trainingprovider #eventapprentice #london
